Don't be fooled by appearences. The Alco FAs were scaled down PAs, riding on 4-wheeled bogies instead of 6, was slightly smaller, had 1400 locomotives made as opposed to the PA's 297, and had a longer production run than their bigger brethren. Anyway, the demo lash-up's seen pulling a long line of freight cars somewhere in the western United States in the early days of Dieselization out there, circa 1946. 20 FAs are alive today, but tragically, only 2 PAs are alive, both of which are being restored in some way.
