Description 51 years ago in January 1970, Eastern Region A3 Pacific 4472 Flying Scotsman left Slaton, Texas and its Santa Fe Railroad roundhouse therein to tour the midwest to Green Bay to drop off the Pullman cars.  Curiously the Lydia stayed with the consist right to the end of the North American tour in August 1972.  Here it's full steam ahead as 4472 pulls her exhibition train across a bridge and through a field of flowers near MacAlaster, Oklahoma in late June 1970, recreating the scene of an era that died almost 20 years ago at this specific point.  Her pilot is still red, indicating the shot predates its repaint in St. Louis.
