i was sort of kidding... but sometimes i think that using guns are cheating... go kill a wolf with your bare hands, so the wolf can actually have a chance of winning... i dont believe in killing animals for fur, or trophy, i think it is ok to kill a deer for the meat or an other animal for its meat.Β

Protecting yourself (and your property) and eating things. Only reasons to kill something, be it a wolf or a rabbit.

Because wolves are overpopulated in some areas and are driving other animals to extinction.

Fooldom In reply to BIazekien [2013-10-23 01:08:23 +0000 UTC]

Wolves are underpopulated if anything. Maybe you're confused with coyotes. Ranchers say such things because they take their livestock. If wolves weren't underpopulated, there wouldn't be so many people working to get their population up and breeding programs set up in so many different places. Areas where wolves are hunted for sport also use the excuse that "wolves are overpopulated," because why wouldn't they? Several species of wolves are endangered. For example, the Red Wolf that used to thrive in the United States. Now they can pretty much only be seen in sanctuaries. Either way, senseless killing is cruel (and not to mention, a waste of money, time, and life). This stamp is disgusting.

Gumshallgirl In reply to Fooldom [2013-12-07 02:51:57 +0000 UTC]

Maybe wolves are underpopulated in your area, but where I live they are everywhere and definitely not protected. Ranchers don't need to defend killing wolves when wolves take their livestock: You are allowed to kill even protected animals to protect your livelihood. I would know, being small-scale farmer. Grey wolves are overpopulated in most areas of their habitat and red wolves are nearly extinct due to interbreeding with coyotes. I hunt wolves. The meat is good, the hide is warm, and the tendons are strong. I use everything in every animal that I kill. There is no waste.Β

No...just no...

Do your research before you comment to put people down. Gray Wolves aren't endangered, and are hunted mostly because of overpopulation.

This was most definitely NOT a troll stamp.

Β

I could say more about wolf hunting, but I hope you get the point.

I like wolves, but a few seconds or less of pain, due to a bullet to the head VS. a slow, painful death of starvation (too many predators=not enough prey)...you be the judge.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cosmic--Chaos In reply to LOTSOFADOPTS [2013-07-19 05:39:20 +0000 UTC]

YES, actually.

OP posts a stamp stating that gray wolves are no longer endangered. The comments on said stamp influence the OP to make another stamp, claiming that they support wolf hunting.

Any schmuck can see that the OP is trolling. It's right there in the comments; are you blind??

I know gray wolves aren't endangered anymore (at least, according to ESA). That doesn't mean it's an excuse to hunt wolves for the hell of it.

Furthermore, how many gray wolves have starved to death over the past few years due to skewed predatorrey ratio? I want a legitimate source if this is true.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LOTSOFADOPTS In reply to Cosmic--Chaos [2013-07-19 16:43:39 +0000 UTC]

There are no stats on how many starve.

No one's gonna count the corpses.

Β

Anyways, the wolf population growth rate is 24%. The overpopulation of wolves is now causing damage to wildlife. Too many predators=not enough prey. Obviously they're gonna starve.

GrammarshineHyena In reply to ??? [2013-05-29 18:24:27 +0000 UTC]

I don't support wolf hunting just because of the huge amount of negative emotion behind it. There is a huge number of people who would hunt wolves to extinction just to get "revenge" for killing some of their livestock, and I just don't believe that's right.

See a wolf and shoot it? Sure. Go ahead. It just seems a bit extreme to kill off an entire pack.

Also... eat the damn thing. I don't care if people go "eewwww, gross! Eating dogs is filthy and disgusting; those aren't food!" It has meat. You can eat it. I would. The fur is probably really warm, too.

Gumshallgirl In reply to GrammarshineHyena [2013-08-23 03:32:49 +0000 UTC]

Wolf is delicious! I've always liked tougher meat though, So I don't know how much other people would like it. The fur actually depends on when It's killed. Wolves have an incredibly soft winter coat, and an extremely coarse summer coat.

Honestly, I've never eaten any kind of meat that isn't "normal," but I don't think it would be nearly as bad as people around here try to make it sound. Β

Wolf does contain a lot of iron and zinc, which are very good for you in the right amounts. Being anemic, I can eat wolf regularly without getting heavy metal poisoning. However other people should really only consume a fourth a pound or less in a week. I am an avid hunter, and I live on a farm with sheep. Wolves go after my sheep and other livestock on the occasion my dogs don't scare them away. Sorry, but livestock are half of my yearly revenue. If I don't kill the wolves that go after my animals I'll loose a lot more than a few sheep or pigs. Of coarse I'm not going to let the wolf rot, I killed it and am obligated to make it's sacrifice meaningful. I get maybe three wolves a year (mostly in the summer) for herd damage, and every once in a while I go wolf hunting. The meat is amazing, tough, and flavorful. I have eaten just about every kind of animal in my area, and wolf is in the top ten for pure flavor. If you ever get the chance, you should try some.Β

It's not healthy to eat a wolf. It's a predator, which means it's meat contains alot of heavy metals. Eating some wolf meat once in a while won't harm you, but eating alot is very unhealthy.

GrammarshineHyena In reply to Eyenoom [2013-06-17 11:44:30 +0000 UTC]

You do have a valid point, but what about the people in China and other poor Asian countries who eat dogs and cats?

Eyenoom In reply to GrammarshineHyena [2013-06-17 11:57:33 +0000 UTC]

That's a rather unhealthy meal for them At least unless they feed them with something else, that does not contain much heavy metals, but I'm not sure if they do or not.

Not being endangered does not make it morally right to hunt them. If anyone tries to say, well we all have different morals, true, though I am not senselessly killing animals.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tigerchomped In reply to TonyRanton [2013-04-12 17:13:45 +0000 UTC]

Define senselessly killing.
The wolves that were reintroduced into the states are doing just that. They're killing animals that they do not need to kill in order to survive. Surplus killing is all too common especially on ranches, and those animals cost the ranchers a lot of money to just turn a blind eye to it.

Hunting today usually isn't senseless, it serves a purpose. Population control is very much needed for humans and animals to co-exist. Other predators have been hunted for centuries, I don't understand why when wolves are the target it's bad and senseless.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TonyRanton In reply to tigerchomped [2013-04-13 01:36:59 +0000 UTC]

The simplest answer I can give is I am extremely biased towards many types of animals and do not want to see them killed just because they are in the way according to whoever says they are.

See this:
No hunting wolves=More wolves
More Wolves=Overpopulation
Overpopulation=No food
No food=Starvation
Starvation=No wolves
So killing them are saving them.

well then I guess we should be thanking the psychopathic murders who kill human kids because, they are helping us live! Thanks killers! Go on slicing children up! no. I don't think it works like that. Its not up to humans to control weather wolves die or live. We are not gods or whatever. They don't get to come to our door and kill us because we're overpopulating. Maybe wolves will die out like that, but I doubt that will happen for a loooonnng time. If we humans have managed to cope with overpopulation, then the wolves probably can too.Β

We eat many things (fruits, vegetables, fishes, meat, eggs, ect.)Β
If you want to be killed go ahead, Im not going to stop you. And that's murder, as you know. Starvation will happen on a looooong time, because we control them, and that's why we can die. People kills wolves because of their fur, bones, teeth, etc which is needed for many things.
You said humans need to be hunted, honey. Stop backtracking. Also, why are you only freaking out about wolf hunting? How is regulated hunting of the grey wolf, which is NOT endangered, any worse than regulated hunting of deer or bears or hogs and whatnot? How about if someone kills an insect or arachnid (ant, spider, fly, ect.) Do you mourn about it? And what's up if wolves hunt elks or deers? You give a fuck about it. Ironically people bitches about wolf hunting when they support torturing cows.
