Description It's a race against time, and Metal Sonic, with Amy Rose's life hanging in the balance as Sonic speeds through theΒ Stardust Speedway!

I was randomly browsing some of my old files when I rediscovered this scene that I started working on in 2017. It was nearly finished and, if I remember rightly, I never got around to finishing it because the background wouldn't play ball and was divided into far too many mesh parts to isolate the bits I needed into separate layers to effectively increase the levels of blur as you get further and further from the camera. However, now that I've learned how to make Photoshop do all that for me, I decided to revisit this piece and finish it off.

The first order of business was to get Stardust Speedway working again, which was a headache in and of itself. Since updating my version of XNALara Posing Studio I've found that reloading older scenes tends to make the models within it load in as invisible. The models are there and can still be posed, you just can't see them. I've usually been able to fix this by using the "Swap Selected Model" function to reload the same model again. However, Stardust Speedway was having none of that. I eventually got it working by opening the scene and loading the model, then opening a second instance of XNALara Posing Studio. Doing that usually creates a clone of the scene you were originally working on in the first window. Doing that, somehow, made the model visible in the second window, so I loaded the original scene in the second window and resaved it with the scenery now working. I've had no problems with it since. A big thanks to WOLFBLADE111 for helping me get the model working again.

The second order of business was to replace the outdated Sonic Generations model of Classic Sonic with the better looking, and easier to pose, version from Sonic Forces and then I started editing it all together. However, when I'd originally finished the scene, I thought it was missing something, so I went back to the drawing board and spent, pretty much, all day tweaking it. I added a new smoke trail to Metal Sonic, I added Dr. Robotnik in his Eggmobile to the background because he's also part of this race in the original game, I added lens flare for the Eggmobile lights, I tweaked the background to get the lightning looking extra special and generally did everything I could think of to fix every single little issue I noticed as I was going along. In the end, I must have finished this piece five or six times today before going back to edit it some more.

January 14th, 2021 - I've updated this piece slightly to make general improvements. I've tweaked Sonic's pose so his arms didn't look quite so disconnected from his body, increased a few of the lighting effects and given Metal Sonic a more dynamic smoke trail.

Posed in XNALara Posing Studio, edited in Photoshop CS3.
