Oh, gorgeous detail! I'm staring at that shell; is so realistic, I feel like stretching out to touch it. Excellent work!

This should have been failed in some watercolor class, because I used white acrylic for the glossy slobber.

There's no rule that says one cannot use mixed media - artistic freedom, you know. It's still just as amazing a painting!
(I used a bit of white acrylics for the whiskers on my "Predator" painting, the masking fluid didn't like me at all there.)

A watercolorΒ΄s purist donΒ΄t let any touch of acrylic or another white media,... fortunately, IΒ΄m not purist!

I'm a little bit like that (the sheer, translucent white of the paper is one of the things I love the most about watercolours), but for certain details, when it's applied skilfully like here, I don't think it's a disadvantage.

IΒ΄m not purist, but indeed, I love the white of the paper. ThatΒ΄s the big secret of the technique

Cute! I love how you've captured the texture of the snail's skin. The shell's patterns look amazing. This is just the kind of pose that you would see a snail in at any time. Great job!
