Description
So you've seen ponies as humans , dinosaurs , Hyracotherium, shrimp , squid ... but have you seen this?So... what is going on here? A fault bend fold, which is what you are looking at in cross section, often contains duplexes. Duplex is a collective term for rocks that are bound by faults on all sides. And what is a single block of rock bounded by faults called? A horse. I'm not kidding.
Yes, I'm afraid this was one of the first things that came to mind when I learned all that. No, this was not the only MLP-referencing joke that came to mind.
Disclaimer: The differently colored units are technically discrete strata, not thrust faults or horses, but it made the most sense to use them to represent the ponies. In addition, I wasn't very rigorous in maintaining the same thickness through each layer of strata, which if I were drawing this for an exam or during field work I should have.

Ha! Very clever, I made a joke about this too, with horses that are leaned to one side and covered by a hill. You uploaded yours first though, so touche!
