No, I knew I needed it, I just didn't know where to purchase it.

Nicely done good sir.

It's a rare ship, I've only seen one other piece of DukeHopps art ever.

Me too. I did it mostly because I find it funny! Most of the other people in the community didn't think that way though, lol.

The community's unofficial motto is 'Try everything -that is exactly the way I want and nothing else. Ever.' Jokes don't fly there; anything that even remotely challenges the True Pairing will be relentlessly crushed and eradicated.

So all you can really do is stuff cotton wool in your ears and ignore 'em. Onwards to the future!

Sadly, it's like that. I met a lot of good people in the community but eventually I got tired and kind of gave up on it. I still post my stuff about Zootopia here and there, but I don't actively go out of my way to search for Zootopia content like I did before.

Funny enough, I began to write, and later draw, because I was tired of seeing the same things over and over. It was easier for me to go and make it since I knew stuff I liked would never see the light of day if I didn't do it.

Pretty much all communities get like that. It's because they're made of people and people suck. I try to keep up with Zootopia stuff, but I don't engage much with the artists or the debates. Save the stuff you like, ignore the drama.

It's impressive how repetitive things can get; again because fandoms are made of people and people are far more alike then they like to admit. 'A dark Zootopia you say? Well that'll have shock collars; Nick will be a criminal resistance member with Finn, we'll see Clawhauser...' You can predict a lot and it's almost funny. If you want something different you really DO have to do it yourself more often than not. And you need to be able to ignore people when they whine at you. Tell 'em to chill out. (Have a pawpsicle!) I myself just post junk on friend's pictures now, out of the spotlight.

And always remain inventive. The world needs people who crackship, they're the pepper in the great BLT of life. I stealth support this pairing with all my (tiny blackened) soul!

One of the main points of shipping should be to create content and explore possibilities outside of canom, to keep the fandom working and having enough content to last until the next movie come out, but most people dislike anything that is not their OTP and the problem is that they can't just let others have their thing.

Ziblink In reply to AlbineFox [2018-07-11 16:05:47 +0000 UTC]

A big problem is that people become invested and then try to fit everything through the lens of their ship. 'What if Judy stayed in the country?' Use Gideon? No, just move Nick there for example. This has led to OTPs exploring a lot of issues, but they do so at the expense of better ships and in diluting the OTP's uniqueness. And they can wall off entire,  deep subjects. (For example, Judy is a crooked cop now, not only in with the mob, she used them to threaten a confession from someone she illegally apprehended. Especially now where police brutality is getting noticed that whole issue has a lot of potential. But it's pretty much been ignored.)

It's sad, people keep rehashing the same old content when there's so much unexplored out there. And most people will never even think. Heck even this pairing is barely scratching the surface.

Yup, one cliche they seem to love is the "Judy manages to break Nick up with his relationship with a vixen" or the "Nick had a vixen he once loved, but she was totally a mean cunt for no reason at all" and there are never consequences for them acting like that in those stories. Part of it is why I decided to write a WildeHopps fanfic a while ago, to prove that it's not the ship that is saturated, it's writers who just don't have ideas anymore.

Ziblink In reply to AlbineFox [2018-07-12 18:05:10 +0000 UTC]

Oh there are so SO many cliches. The biggest I think is 'Everyone is against our pred-prey relationship!' which honestly goes with nearly every other possible ship there is. It doesn't HAVE to be hoppswilde. The 'former lover is a bitch' cliche is an old one, especially in movies where it's usually a more successful guy (But he sucks so the woman OBVIOUSLY should go with the loser everyman!)

At the very least if you're going to explore a cliche you can try and approach it from another angle! But it's weird how seldom that's done. Judy-Finnick is reasonably popular yet, you never see anything out of 'This is them being cute together'. Where's FINN meeting the family or people being against a fennec with a bunny? Nowhere, apparently that only applies to fullsize foxes. That's why I admire your odder pairings, even if their focus seems to be 'This relationship is so wrong.'

Actually, only the DukeHopps pairing I find it wrong, as in Duke would not be Judy's type lol. The other pairings I do are normally done for a joke. If you were to ask me then I would say that WildeHopps is as much as an impossible and nonsensical pairing as BogoHopps.

Ziblink In reply to AlbineFox [2018-07-14 03:16:22 +0000 UTC]

Pffffbbbbt. 'Type'. Bunch of nonsense that. A 'type' is just a bias you have that'll make you more likely to hook up with someone. You'd be amazed how many people's 'type' is 'rich, good looking and bulges in the right places'. The only real consideration is how likely said duo are to hang around long enough to know each other.

I mean look at the golden pairing of HoppsWilde; remove the Otterton case and what do you get? An annoying bully fox who tricked Judy and then crushed her dreams. She could go back home and hook up with Gideon (And solve  the case) and everyone would be all 'Ewww, you ship HoppsWilde? He's a dickhead fox and you're terrible for shipping them. Nick is SO not her type!'

With the right situation you could see any pairing arise. Clawhauser was sympathetic, if he'd helped her on the case there'd e a very natural pairing there, two cheerful and chipper souls. Drop Bellwether entirely and you have a movie about a bunny cop struggling to earn the respect of her peers, realizing the fight isn't over just because she got a badge. Over the months of hard work the chief begins to take notice and eventually grudgingly respect her. Boom! BogoHopps. Judy asks for the help of the less dickish fox, FinnHopps in the bag. ('People! Stop shipping FinnNick! We all know smol!Fox belongs with a bunny! They're both teeny but tough, Nick isn't her type!')

I'd rate Weaselton as one of the more likely pairings, there's really not much difference between him and Nick Sarcastic criminal that initially gets in her way. The movie follows one but not the other. If Otterton had bought a bootleg movie for his kid instead of a pawpsicle the movie would need barely any alterations, even on the dialog level. Sure the movie would bomb because everyone hates weasels, but we'd be sitting here with you noting how Nick is just NOT Judy's type. (And the cycle would continue!)

Besides, one of your titles was 'Not all love is beautiful' which suggests not an objection to type but that the relationship itself i foul somehow. (IMKO, ALL love is beautiful, that's part of what makes it love.) *Takes off rant glasses*

AlbineFox In reply to Ziblink [2018-07-14 17:21:09 +0000 UTC]

LOL! The "Not all love is beautiful" was meant as a joke for one attractive female being with an "ugly" male and that's normally something that pushes people's buttons.

What I meant from Duke not being her type is that he's not wanting to change his ways and likes being a criminal! It's funny that you list the same idea I had for the DukeHopps story, Otterton buying the DVD.

Honestly, Nick didn't look like a love interest at all for Judy. Shippers want them together because "they are cute" and "work so well together" but I disagree. In the movie they were shown to work well as friends but that's VASTLY different from working in a love relationship. Nick hated her for half of the movie and even after that he only saw her as the little sister he never had.

The reason I don't like Gideon is not that he's a fat fox, it's because he was made ugly... his hair and face, especially the hair, makes me cringe! lol!

I do have a bun/foxxo comic/story coming in the future but I'm waiting a little bit before releasing it.

Ziblink In reply to AlbineFox [2018-07-16 05:12:26 +0000 UTC]

Oh there's a whole section, mostly on Pixiv of 'ugly guy' Zootopia stuff. Mostly featuring Gideon, so maybe you have a point with him. But I live the guy, not everyone has to be beautiful you know.

With Duke... well like I said we don't know anything. We certainly don't know he likes being a crimminal (He certainly doesn't seem to relish selling bootlleg movies.) Heck a big bit of Zootopia fanon is NICK not wanting to change his ways, always having a hustle going on the side or being up to something sneaky. Again, you could probably write weasel and fox near identically if you wanted. The defining trait about Duke is his lack of defining traits. You could say his dream was to be a professional ballet dancer and it'd fit as well as anything else.

Shippers like Wildehopps because it's the most cliche thing out there. Link the two main characters of the movie; it's what everyone does in every franchise ever. It's the unquestioned baseline and my dream is that the sequel does something different, just to hear the reaction scream of the entire fanbase. Heck even bunny-fox is pretty cliche at this point. 'Okay, we have Jack Savage, a bunny character in development... what should we do with this vastly different and unexploited character?' 'Pair him with a fox of course!' 'The exact same thing as the main ship?' 'Why yes! It's so original and they're from two different worlds and oh the angst!'

What's your foxbun comic about if I may ask? You'll have a hard, hard time indeed doing anything that a thousand other people haven't already done with that type of pairing.

KKKKKK! I have two fox bun comics. And in both of them, I'm original. You'll see when I post it here. One is a full comic and the other is some comic pages with a one-shot written for it. If I told you about what they were it would spoil the fun for you later. The small comic/story is already ready but unfortunately, I have to finish another chapter of my other story before releasing it.

My problem is Gideon's hair. I like the fat fox but his hair is just so... weird. He would be perfect without that hair. It looks like a wig.

What I want is for Nick to be with a vixen. He deserves a sweet bushy tailed vixen to give him lots of kits. I've gotten to the point where I ignore what the fandom says and if someone spams messages too much I just block them.

Duke could be cute if he groomed himself. I like his big derpy eyes.

Oh no, surprise comic!

Gideon... he's like the only dude with hair in the movie. Which is.. odd. (Mind, they treat fur as skin in that movie, ever seen a wet fox? It's a sad sight: cdn.pixabay.com/photo/2016/03/… ) I don't mind the hair but... odd choice.

You're a Nixen fan eh? *Hands Skye* Honestly I don't much care, if a pairing works it works (Since his VA is gay me and a few friends are rooting for gay!Nick, THAT'D be a way for Disney to 'try everything'!) Just be creative. Far too many people just do what's been done before. Branch out I say! You wanna do fox-bunny? Flemish Giant rabbits are a thing, they're BIGGER than foxes! (Check out an IRL pairing: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… ) Do something different! Innovate!

My personal headcanon is that Duke is that messy on purpose. Nobody's gonna like him no matter how neat he looks, so why not just a big 'screw you' to everyone and be scruffy? I personally wanna know where he got those scars.

lol! The flemish giant rabbit is actually the foxbun pairs that I created. I made the drawing for one of them MONTHS ago, but I forgot to upload it since the time to use it in the stories haven't arrived yet. I can upload it later tonight if I find the file.

That makes sense, Duke would be like "Why bother?!"

It'd be interesting, with a bigger bunny. You'd have the chance to invert some  of the usual 'big guy smol girl' stuff you usually see. And foxes can be vegetarian (And bunnies can enjoy chicken.) could be some interesting stuff packed away there. I shall be keeping eagle eyes on your, be sure of that.

He would. Here's Duke showering under a drainpipe, among other things: www.dropbox.com/s/egh7zfw4k9le…

And here's him as a parking warden, which he enjoys because he gets to give people tickets and it's not like they can treat him WORSE than usual: img.booru.org/zoo//images/13/d…
