Spray boxes? I just scrawl around on paper with charcoal and hope for the best, am I missing some amazing secret? :3

Yeah, at the short time i was at the culture school, they used some spray boxes ( idk what they are called)
And they spray it on the painting you have charcoaled, and then you continue so draw with the charcoal to make it darker
