Description So like everyone at this point, i watched the teaser to Lion Guard Season 3 ^^ I was intrigued and wanted to draw some fanart! I took a screencap and redraw it making it more Lion King like and i also attempted to make Scar look younger Which was not easy

Personally, despite the me loving seeing Scar and this new male lion, im not at all happy with how Scar got his scar and i do believe i've seen many other creative ways it happened by fans And on that note i'll be keeping with my AU of Scar getting his scar when he was a cub

Check out the comparison of the redraw here: How I Got My Scar [Comparison]

The Screenshot is here: sta.sh/0kz2ktsrfm6

Hope you like it!

Much prefer your redraw from the screenshot. And I agree, really hate how lazy this background was for how he got his scar. But amazing art as always!

I don't often say this, but I think your redrawing looks actually better than the shows! I appreciate that you gave Scar a more TLK movie look. I, too, am interested in this Scar plot in TLG and how this relates to Kion going on his journey with his Guard. However, I also agree that it's disappointing to see how Scar got his scar. I, too, have seen many more creative fan concepts out there in TLK fandom and that snake bite wasn't what I was really thinking of--though a rather unique idea on Disney's part? Hmm. I do like the backstory with Scar being part of an older Lion Guard--and now Kion with his new scar teaser. Lots to look forward to in this upcoming season. At least they are filling in plot holes on where Kion was during TLK2, something I am sure many fans (me included) were wondering about!

My fan rant aside, amazing artwork, looks stellar! ^^

Thank you so much that means alot ^^

I feel their choice to use a snake was to also make the excuse that the venom got to scar and added to him being evil? Which in my opinion is unnecessary but it is for kids so i guess it makes sense and is better than making out Mufasa to be a bad guy for doing it or anything else

You're very welcome! And I agree with you that the snake was to deter the possibility of a fight between Mufasa and Scar (or even Ahadi and Scar) where the scar incident could have happened. Mufasa is such a classic king with a positive reputation and I know Disney would not want to sour that good image Mufasa displays. And, indeed, this is a children's show so I understand why they want to keep violence to a minimum so the snake idea offers a solution in that regard and also gives a 'reason' for being evil instead of just being inherently evil? At least we got some backstory, even if it was a rather unexpected one.

I'm glad to have another season of The Lion Guard, but since being bitten by a cobra would more likely kill the lion, not make him evil, it doesn't actually make sense.  Still, it's just another version of the story.  The remake hinted that it was from Mufasa, and since the original creators haven't given an official reason, I don't think we'll ever have an absolute answer.

Fantastic redrawing of this scene! It looks WONDERFUL!

I'm a big fan of "The Lion Guard" and really liked this story! It's VERY interesting, and it's terrific to finally know how Scar really got his scar.

How did Scar get his scar in your version? When I watched the video, I was very confused. First, "The Tale of Two Brothers" mentioned that he got his scar from a water buffalo. Second, the 2019 Lion King movie stated that he got the scar from his and Mufasa's challenge. Now, he got the Scar from a cobra bight? I hear when a cobra bites you, you die in minutes. This is all confusing.

Yeah there really is no set way it happened canon wise, but in my version scar was a young cub and got it from a buffalo similar to "The Tale of Two Brothers" but instead of it being a plan gone wrong, I made it that Mufasa had been the one to upset the buffalo causing it to attack and when it did, Mufasa ran in fear leaving his brother to get hurt and ultimately making their parents think Scar had scared the buffalo into attacking, while Mufasa never admitted to it being his fault

That's a cool theory. Did Mufasa felt regret for not telling Scar sooner?

Yes he did, but scar never forgave him

Now I see why he became the most beloved Disney villain ever.

Mufasa didn't do it xD apparently he just called him Scar which is stupid imo

PierceTheReindeer In reply to M1ZAN [2019-08-05 22:42:52 +0000 UTC]

That's not the only thing Mufasa did. Scar straight up told him that there was a lion that wanted to kill him (Mufasa) and that he (Scar) got rid of him. Mufasa's response? Laugh it off and give his bro (who is in pain from venom in his face as well) a cruel nickname. Which you know, would make what the strange lion told Scar "you should be in charge because you are more powerful that your brother" much MUCH more appealing now in his eyes. That does explain why way back in Season 1 ep "Can't Wait to be Queen" when Mufasa said told Kion that it is important to tell Kiara, who is in line to be queen, when she is wrong. Almost like he regretted not taking what Scar said seriously back then because he was acting like a cocky older brother.

YEah but Scar is not a reliable narrator either. I seriously don't think Mufasa would have been cruel like that

PierceTheReindeer In reply to M1ZAN [2019-08-06 03:32:17 +0000 UTC]

That is also very possible but who knows, Being inject with venom and being in pain doesn't really help having clear thoughts or perception. That venom really screwed up Scar pretty bad.

M1ZAN In reply to PierceTheReindeer [2019-08-06 03:51:53 +0000 UTC]

yeah? that doesn't excuse murder, but it would explain a lot.

PierceTheReindeer In reply to M1ZAN [2019-08-06 09:12:02 +0000 UTC]

Scar does have aggression issues and that venom did not help him controlling that at all. Like, I am not excusing Scar's actions at all (I have no idea why someone would) but from a character stand point it makes sense why he does what he does.

....yeah i know thats what i was saying. he fueled the hate scar had for it cause he gave him the nickname. thats pretty wicked if you ask me

M1ZAN In reply to darlingfoxes [2019-08-03 19:33:14 +0000 UTC]

But Mufasa wouldn't do that, I think Scar twisted it to make himself sound better tbh
