Very interesting. I wonder how effective or real it is. Or power/tractive effort is.
I mean real as in able to pull trains, rather than a huge model or toy which is not able to move under its own power or pull anything.

Your second assumption is correct. This uses the same concept as the (smaller) Thomas the Tank Engine and Percy replicas used for Day Out with Thomas events in the US (and built by the same company - the Strasburg Railroad). Apart from a working whistle and a bell, these also play (highly annoying) recorded chantings of "I Think I Can" and "I Thought I Could" to reflect the story.

I was also going to bring these Thomas and Percy replicas as reference in conversation as if they followed the same thing of being huge models or "dummy" as in non-functioning locomotives.
