I'm back! Hehehe. xD
So much for the haitus. XP
First I want to say thankyou to who spent a long time with me in front of the PC and watched me paint this piece and that he took time to discuss the concept idea with me before I even started it.
I've had a picture like this in my head for a little while. I wanted to create a scene which symbolizes the bond between the girl called Lumri and the Plant Spirit.
Both are completely different yet they belong together.
Defiance of the Shadow shows the earthy and untouched forest, which is yet protected by the nature of the plant spirit whilst the lethal hand of humankind forces the forests to give way.
I had to create a final design for Lumri, which took me a while because I couldn't make up a good face for her. In the end, I thought that my youngest sister has the perfect look which fits to the character of Lumri.
The young and childlike shape of the face yet the concentrated eyes were very important aspects which made me choose my sister as a reference for Lumri.
Also, I think it's a good choice since I almost see myself when I was a little child and had dreams like those. :3
This was also a piece I used to experiment a lot with. For example I adujsted every single brush myself which has been used for this picture and I think I will use them more often.
I hope you like it! :3

Wonderful picture. I love it and I really hope someday, the likes of those ominous, tall, smoking and polluting towers will be a long forgotten memory in the history of mankind.

This is so bitterly true picture. This is touching very deep, sometimes I feel like the girl there (or at least as I imagine she is feeling). But even if one cry for nature it is difficult to actually change. Well at least we are trying.
You have new watcher here Your ideas and their forms are very interesting.

The way this painting adresses the issues in the world about climate change is fantastic, and the painting itself is perhaps the most wonderful thing I have ever seen painted by a digital painter.

Ah, the full picture. The lights on the smokestacks almost look like sinister eyes (intentional, I assume?). This painting has a lot of relevance today. I really love it.

Thank you so much. The tower lights are really supposed to look evil and sinister especially because they are red and yellow glowing and have such a high contrast to the rest of the background.

Nicely balanced....I like the vertical kind of composition you've used, instead of a horizontal storyboard-like thing. And this is amazing work....how enormous is the original? It's so detailed!

Thank you so much! The original is about 5000 x 3000 pixel on 300 dpi or so, or evena tad bigger. It coudl be printed out quite large in fact.

Great job! I already said it before, but I'll again: I totally looove your plant spirit. I've never seen anything like it, and I'm kinda jealous I didn't think of the concept myself. The details in this piece leave me in awe. You must have an enormous amount of patience 0.0 I like how the hand of Lumri seems to disappear in the green, leafy body of the plant spirit. The mysterious colours on the foreground add a lot to the atmosphere of the picture. The grass between the trees seems to wave softly in the slight breeze that flows through the forest. I can almost feel it like I'm there myself. Great job, you're an excellent artist!

Thank you so much for this awesome comment.
I really had to have a lot of patience to work on this picture especially about the front part. It was rather straining after a while because of all the tiny details and leaves.
No need to be jealous though. ^^
