You got to imagine that, at one time or another he hated being Spock, being that role, how it haunted him dragged him down. Typecast, gimmick, limited range, these must of hung on his mind. But seeing this, the out pouring of reverence and respect at his passing, I'd like to think In the end he'd find it worth it

When a celeb dies its seems like a race for all the artists to get a tribute pic up fast while the death is trending. I hate that, especially when they are the usual quick sketches or photos with a few unoriginal words as though everybody and their mother wants to say "FIRST".
This one was indeed fast (Nimoy just died some hours ago at time of this post), but it is a well done picture and it did give me warm but sad feelings to look at. Good job... But I have to ask- Did you work this all up just today or have it setting aside in a stack of other similar paintings of elderly stars that could go any day now?

He was rather unwell recently so this news (sadly to say) wasn't a completely random shock, it is amazing how artists can work this fast but I think you are reading into it too much.
People just want to show their respects, some people with words, others use art as a picture can speak a thousand words,

No, I do agree with you to some extent, it is rather upsetting that a lot of people forget about these icons until they are at deaths door, it is s true shame that some see it as a 'first' opportunity, but even the cynic in me hopes that this is a small minority and that these people are just paying respects, I certainly would like to believe that c:
