Description
I completed the last big Wanderer of Yrian Plains commission that stems from another great supporter of mine with their generous pledge to help HoD and Myre to become a reality. This painting is quite dear to me. And although it took me almost a full week to complete, I never felt like it took me too long. The story behind it is partially a side story that includes a small folk living in greener parts of Yria. Except for the cameo character in the front part of the image, the character in the background is a hint of what they look like. You might see some similarity to a character who is already thriving in the Chronicles of Yria, and that is for a reason which I won't reveal to you just yet.
I will, however, introduce you to them soon. Since they are a part of the story, I find them as important to mention as all other characters and groups that sprung to life when I had the first sparks of Yria popping up in my mind back then.
In this picture, she main character is one of their apprentices who learns to wander Yrian plains and look for places that provide soil rich enough to be forested on.
Her staff is draped with bags filled with seeds of all various plants. The leaf like cloak is symbolic to their task, which is the endless endeavour to make Ehraahn verdant again. However, it's not an easy task and the process is slow. In this image, I wanted to depict pride and a sense of content in the characters.
While small groups of the folks are traveling to bring saplings from their nursery gardens out into the wilderness, facing all kinds of hardship on their way, there are many good aspects to it all. It simply feels good to see something thrive.

She is having a lot of gardening tools and seed pouches around her belt as well as her staff. Surely she also got emergency rations for herself. Maybe something similar to pemmican!

This picture stirs my heart.
From the overall sense of energy and adventure to the little details of tools and carvings and jewelry, there is power and purpose pouring from this image. I want to get to know these two people, and hear their tale, and help it along if I can.
Thank you for sharing it here. I enjoy your work generally, and this one especially.
Light and laughter,
SongCoyote

This is really uplifting (both the art and the story behind it.) I adore the way you rendered the lighting, you perfectly caught that dramatic low angle sunlight.

Thank you so much! The light situation was something I played around with for the biggest portion of the painting.

Thank you! Only seeing doom can get tiring. But It can be a ton of fun to portray as well. I love putting a light into all directions.
Have a wonderful week as well!
