Description
Finally, it's done - the final colour concept of an ordinary male Varug dragon: [link]The difference between the two genders is that females have no wings yet they are a lot more colourful than the male Varugs.
Male dragons are less plated and protected than the females which have to move on the ground yet both don't lack agility.
If you don't mind, there is more of that stuff to come. xD
I simply have to let off steam from my bursting imagination and inspiration.
Thanks so much for looking!

May a make a small suggestion? It would make more sense for a large flying creature to have a larger base swath of membrane (where it attaches to the body) then have the largest expanse of membrane lay in the fingers, to reduce the effort required in each sweep and relieve weight and stress on the "fingers" of the wings. Otherwise it looks like the dragons airborne body is being supported by the "hands" rather than the entire arm, which would require monumental finger strength. (Just look at bats and birds for example).
Anyway, the dragon looks exceptionally lovely. I really like the colours and plating on the neck and face. Out of curiosity, how did the males and females evolve to be so different? I really enjoy hearing the back stories on such things.

on top of this, there are two bits of physics which, together, make it necessary for the 'base swath' of the membrane to be larger: if a dragon, especially one of a considerable size, wants to become airborne, it will either need a height to begin from, or strong leg and hip muscles to jump into the air high enough to beat its wings. that also means weight added to the hind section of the body. now, in order for a dragon to fly horizontally, as we usually depict it, this hip really needs support - it would be nearly impossible for those two 'arms' alone to keep the entire body horizontal in the air. it would simply require muscles in impossible and very unhandy positions, and strong ones too. that's why the base concept of a dragon consistent with physics should have wing support all the way from the chest to he hips. of course, if you don't want that, it is still your creature, your idea. you do whatever you want; this is just advice and reasoning.

I love all the different directions your style is exploring and probing into. This one's got a Kazuma Kaneko feel to it.
These are such pretty creatures. I want a little rat-sized one as a pet.
