I enjoy the lines in this- the bold outline around it accents the subject nicely, making the lighter lines on the inside stand out more. The shape is also handled very well- I own a betta and this is a schooled representation. I agree withΒ Delila5000 ; more seaweed! It will make the atmosphere feel more complete. The initial curve of the seaweed is good; it frames the subject! I also wonder about detailing for your fish- some subtle scales here and there for added interest could give it more substance. The colour combo you've chosen is lovely- they all compliment each other well. I think overall, you just need to do more of the things you're already doing; think if it as a "go big or go home" challenge. This isn't to say it has to be over the top, but more texture, background features, and even bubbles will bring this betta to the next level. Regardless, it's still lovely- like a flower petal in water

I think the fish is a very good representation of the actual fish. It is very regal and you did an amazing job of shading the fins. They all have a very great shape, too.Β The seaweed is a nice touch, but I personally would have like to see more of it. I think if you had put more into the background, even if it was just more seaweed and such of different lengths and distances from the fish, it would have brought the whole piece together better and gave a complete feel. And instead of the flat water, an color shift or ombre would definitely add to it.Β Maybe add to the light coming from the surface, a nice touch, btw. These are just suggestions for the future, and I really like the fish. It is very beautiful.Β

yeah, i was young when I had them. Yet had to separate them the male kept attack the female.Β
The male I named Blue and the female was Mellow. Mellow was very pretty
