1,5h speedy!well, prototype 2 is coming for pc this month, but i'm not sure if i will get it...simply because i don't like the concept of james heller...he's just a cheap copy of mercer andseemingly created by the thought of making him "bigger and badder" which was a wrong decision, if you ask me. i mean think of a chick with those powers and being the protagonist of the game...this would be awesome! i mean the videogame world knows only one genocidal monster chick which is really popular and that is sarah kerrigan. and she is badass and everyone knows it! but instead of going for this route, they came up with stupid heller....i mean, he would've been cool, if there wasn't alex mercer before him...also i'm pretty sure heller has drawn the hate of many fangirls after the events of prototype 2 (yes i've spoilered myself
...anyway, i'd vote chick for prototype anytime, yay!

I actually just finished playing Prototype 2 (PS3) 10 minutes ago before I saw this. How weird! I actually thought the game was better than the first one in terms of the gameplay, but I agree that I didn't like James Heller that much. Another 'tough guy with attitude'. They really should have more female leads in these games though. I'm still waiting for a female lead in a GTA game - all of these characters tend to be the same after a while. Anyway, nice pic of Prototype chick! I approve

sure, the gameplay may be better, which is cool, but there's a sour taste of it if you are not able to enjoy the gameplay with the character you've grown to like (even though mercer is a total asshole, but that was the cool thing about him, he was a nice anti-hero) and instead get a bigger copy of him.
don't get me wrong, i like changing protagonists in a series, but from mercer to heller it wasn't enough of a change to satisfy my taste!

I see what you're saying. I wasn't a big fan of Mercer either though. I always wondered why they decided to change the character in Prototype 2 to begin with.

because the game ended with mercer being all powerful and it wouldve been a real challenge to find a way to "reset" his powers in the means of story for a sequel.
however, what they did now wasn't the best solution either...

Ah yeah, that's right. Guess they didn't want to take the God of War route and strip him of his powers at the beginning of the sequel.
A female Prototype would be cool if they ever made another game, but seeing that Radical entertainment employees were laid off and the studio has been reduced to playing a supporting roles of other games, it means no Prototype 3 any time soon.

well, doesnt mean we don't see a prototype 3, they could give the project to a different studio if the sales of prototype 2 make a sequel possible

Yeah, I spoilered myself too and while they did try to make Heller more sympathetic, though a cussing brute with few emotions aside from anger and confusion, it kinda falls flat on it's face when it's the player controlling him since I ended up scarfing down who knows how many civilians. So yeah, that was kinda pointless.
I also hated how they made Alex just a stereotypical villain in the sequel, sure he was an utter asshole, but I'm rather confused how he decided to suddenly throw on an evil mustache and try to take over the world! Also I kinda find it funny how Heller kills him by punching him to death basically which is like trying to punch water to death! XD
But while I don't care who the next prototype is long as it's a good character, I would certainly find it a bit interesting to see a female go all virus hulk on our asses for once.

well, there's a comic, called "the anchor" which explains alex' change of heart, however i'd rather follow him towards the destruction of the world in the sequel than playing with heller...he just sucks!
also, i don't think there will be a prototype 3, since activision shut down the developers!

Oh, I did not know that, could you please explain why he became evil? Also I agree with you on following Alex, he's just that mych better.
Oh yeah, I heard about that, that's a downright shame.

in short: he travels the world to intend to find out who and what he is, but he only finds examples of mankinds darkest and most foul sides, so he decides to wipe them out in order to create a new and better world.
well, doesnt mean there is no sequel, but chances are that it won't feel the same (like with the fear franchise...1 and 2 were spooky, in the third i felt like i am rambo with a deadly kung fu kick )

Ah, that makes sense now and yeah, humans are jerks, so why not let a race of viruses that have a thing for hooded jackets take over!
Oh yeah, I remember Fear 3, the game that fails to be spooky. Those soldiers really need to take care of that brittle bone disease in their legs! XD

well, i didn't play the game yet, so i don't know the details but what is much more weird than mercers change of heart is how heller gets his powers...i mean mercer infects him and miraculously he turns out to be a more deadly version of him...yeah, makes sense.

Whoever heard of a female protagonist making any money? Besides Tombraider, StarCraft, Mass Effect, DragonAge, Metroid, Wonder Woman...
Really not sure what execs are thinking nowadays. I realize it costs a bit extra to put dual gender models and voice actors in but it's gotta really expand your target audience.

actually i don't really mind if the protagonist is male, female, black, white or whatever, but heller just looks like the developers didn't put much thought into the character, which is really a reason for me not to buy this game.

I like having my options open and I think full customization is a plus in any game. I also think games like Mass Effect really nail it by not making their main characters the stereotypical brutish male or buxom female.

problem is that you either have a very silent hero then (like in the tes and fallout franchises) or need a very big budget, which not every publisher will grant (i heard the studio that made the prototype games is being closed down by activision right now), so i'm okay with non-customizable characters, as long as people put some thought into them!

This is brilliant! I love the way the fire litterally 'courses through her veins'... She looks intense and angry, and as you said, badass. This is fantastic work. Thank you for posting it!
