1,5h speedy!well, prototype 2 is coming for pc this month, but i'm not sure if i will get it...simply because i don't like the concept of james heller...he's just a cheap copy of mercer andseemingly created by the thought of making him "bigger and badder" which was a wrong decision, if you ask me. i mean think of a chick with those powers and being the protagonist of the game...this would be awesome! i mean the videogame world knows only one genocidal monster chick which is really popular and that is sarah kerrigan. and she is badass and everyone knows it! but instead of going for this route, they came up with stupid heller....i mean, he would've been cool, if there wasn't alex mercer before him...also i'm pretty sure heller has drawn the hate of many fangirls after the events of prototype 2 (yes i've spoilered myself
)...anyway, i'd vote chick for prototype anytime, yay!

Heller ain't that bad,but he seems alot like somewhat took Kratos and changed his skin tone
Alex on the other hand,NO ONE,has figured out that he's just trying to figure out what's right.
Unlike the usual impression of everyone that he just likes to pound things.
Nope,technically YOU just like to press the attack button whenever you're near someone,otherwise if played well enough you rarely even have to go near zombies,let alone civilians.
But the concept art here seems alot like Heller's daughter Amaya if you ask me.
I just wonder if she picked up her Father's one liners.

If we had the same guys behind hellers and mercers development making her, she would probably still turn out bad. The problem with Heller is that they made him too different from his personality before his familys death, were he RARELY cursed without reason. Even then he still had more emotional scenes were you could actually care bout him, like his interaction with daughter at the end. Either way, we should just want a chick prototype for the sake of her having a vagina, she should actually have a good backstory.

of course she'd need a good story, character, motivations, etc.
however the fact that a woman would do all those things mercer and heller did (like eating a bunch of people for breakfast) and still be the protagonist is already something extraordinary. usually women in media get either the damsel in distress role, being seductive as the antagonist or plain good as the protagonist...but a female anti-hero? well that's very very rare! (at least in the usual mainstream media)

Very true. I would only see activision making multiple characters to chose from however, female protagonist don't always turn out well for business, and we all know activision is about the money.

male leads don't always turn out well for business either!
i mean there are enough female lead characters that earned shitloads of money, for example lara croft, jill valentine, or chell.
but there are still far too many male leads in games and women are usually displayed as weak, (or half naked with huge boobs and magic wands in mmos) which really sucks! i mean look at femshep, she's badass and even got her own default design and dvd cover for mass effect 3, because fans liked her so much. so there's really no reason for not making more female leads other than male chauvinism or whatever.

I believe this as well, it's only that there are few female protagonist that do as well as Lara or Shepard. Mostly because the developers don't even try and put them past bimbo status. Activision of all companies wouldn't do it due to sexism of many male gamers. Personally id rather stare at a girls ass for hours than a dudes, but thats just me lol

guess most of the male gamers do that! and there's nothing wrong with it, i mean male leads are being stared upon by female fans aswell (just look at all those assassins creed fanarts and fanfics around here by female fans...), but it wouldn't take any more work to develop a female protagonist than a male, people just dont seem to want to do it, which is a shame.

It really is. I hope if they make a 3rd with a female, they bring heller and alex back as well. Both of them still have a story to tell. I hope that they give heller his former personality he had with his family, like in the comics. If anything, i hope they don't just make him the bad guy. on another note, my friend speculated that maya could be the next prototpye or a son of Dana and James. Those two got close during some of the blacknext missions. It wouldn't be impossible. also, Have you noticed that their aren't really many teenaged protagonist either? Usual its a kid or an adult, but never in between. that would be a nice change of pace imo as well from a younger point of view.

well, i don't think there will be another sequel anytime soon, since the developer was shut down by activision recently.
and there's a very good reason you won't have a teenaged protagonist in many games.
it's because the asian media (manga, anime, most japanese stuff) features lots of teenaged protagonists and there's tons and tons of them that hyped over to the western world!
so i'm actually fine with adult protagonists!
