Just a little pic to see if I could do a background... spoiler alert I can't.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Olivia entered the dorm room nervously hoping that Xanthia wouldn’t be there. She’d been avoiding her faunus friend since the dance and for good reason. Ever since she’d met her Olivia had had a crush on her and at first that’s all it seemed to be. However, as fate would have it the closer they grew as friends, the more those feelings grew. She’d hoped to ask Xanthia to the dance, but was never able to conjure up the courage. So, the both of them ended up attending the dance alone. While there Fox Alistair, who Xanthia had a slight crush on, asked her for a dance which made Olivia really jealous causing her to go off by herself. It didn’t take long before the young squirrel faunus to realized her friend was gone and so went looking for her, finding her sitting alone on a bench outside. Xanthia convinced her to come back in, saying she’d dance with her to try and cheer her up. Well, as they went back in the other students had just started slow dancing, making them both feel a bit awkward. However, as they danced they felt less awkward and more comfortable. Olivia got caught up in the moment and kissed Xanthia, trying to run away immediately after, ashamed of what she’d done. Xanthia caught up to her quickly wanting to tell her it was ok but all the pent up emotions Olivia had been feeling came out, causing her to yell at her friend. Xanthia ran away crying, making Olivia feel even worse than she already did. The two hadn’t even seen each other since then, let alone spoken.
Seeing that she was alone, at least for the moment, Olivia began to change out of her uniform into her combat gear to go and train. It usually made her feel better. She was about to finish putting her armor on when she heard the door open, turning to see Xanthia walking in. The young faunus immediately looked away, her squirrel ears drooping and her face turning a deep red. She tried to run to the bathroom in an attempt to avoid any awkward conversation but Olivia stopped her.
“Xanthia, wait please,” she said. The faunus stopped but didn’t look at her, instead beginning to fidget with her fingers. “I… I’m sorry.”
“I-it’s ok.”
“No it’s not. I-I shouldn’t have yelled at you and… and I shouldn’t have said wot I did.”
“Really, i-it’s ok.” A few tears ran down her cheeks. “I’m use to being people’s problem.” Olivia winced, hearing those words coming from her, hearing how sad she sounded, hurt her very core.
“Xanthia you’re not a problem ok. I didn’t mean that.”
“Then why’d you say it?”
“It just came out wrong… Xanthia I… I actually really like you. More than just as a friend.” The young faunus glanced over at her.
“W-what do you mean?” Olivia took a deep breath, knowing that there was no turning back now.
“I’m in love with you.” Olivia blushed heavily, rubbing the back of her neck. “Have been evar since ya bumped into me our first day here.”
Xanthia looked back at her stunned, unable to speak. Her best friend, the girl who’d been by her side the entire school year, was romantically interested in her. She couldn’t believe it. “Really?”
“Yes, I just never told ya because I know ya don’t like girls that...” She chocked up a bit. “that way.” Olivia turned away letting a few tears fall. “If ya want a new team now I’ll understand.” Xanthia still stood there virtually motionless, unsure of what to do. Her heart was pounding out of her chest. She’d never had anyone express any interest in dating her let alone confess their love. An awkward silence filled the room as both of them just stood there. Xanthia wanted to say something more, she wanted to make her team leader feel better but words seemed to evade her. Then again she was never good with words anyway. However, she was good with action. With a determined walk she made her way over to her friend, grabbed her shoulders, stood up on her toes, and pressed her lips against Olivia’s. The sudden feeling of the faunus’s lips and the warmth of her body startled her, her eyes as wide as they could be. It didn’t take long for her to sink into the kiss though, closing her eyes and slowly bringing Xanthia into her embrace, their bodies pressed against one another. After a minute, Olivia opened her eyes again, feeling a bit awkward about how long the kiss was lasting. She pulled away, causing her friend to do the same.
“U-um, Wot was that?” Olivia managed to get out.
“Olivia, I, I uh, I have feelings for you too,” Xanthia stuttered, “I just didn’t know what they were until… until you kissed me at the dance, b-but then you...” Her voice trailed off. “I thought you’d finally just had enough of me.”
“I could never have enough of you,” she said softly, realizing how weird it sounded only after the words were out. “I mean uh… well, you know.” Xanthia giggled a bit and nodded, beginning to fidget with her fingers.
“So, does this mean that we’re like girlfriends now,” Xanthia asked nervously. Olivia looked at her, unable to keep a smile from forming on her face.
“If ya want to. I’d be more than happy to be yer girlfriend.” The young faunus’s face lit up, practically tackling her, causing them both to fall back onto the bed.
“S-sorry, I—”
“I know... ya got excited.” She leaned forward, kissing her new girlfriend. “That’s wot I love about ya.” Xanthia blushed heavily, backing up and sitting on the edge of the bed. Olivia sat up with her.
“So, uh, what do we do now,” Xanthia asked, “I’ve never had a girlfriend before.”
“It’s not to much different than havin’ a boyfriend,” Olivia said. Xanthia’s squirrel ears drooped a bit, lookin away as her face heated up.
“I-I’ve never had one of those either.”
“That’s nothin’ ta be embarrassed about sweety.” She put her arm around her squirrel friend pulling her close. “doesn’t matter anyway I suppose.”
“Well, I guess it’s actually a good thing.”
“Wot do ya mean?” Olivia looked at her with an inquisitive look. Xanthia glanced up at her with a smile, then rested her head on her shoulder.
“It means you get to be my first... and hopefully only girlfriend.”
“I like the sound of that.” She kissed the top of her head. Xanthia wrapped her arms around Olivia’s midsection, making her blush a bit, unable to stop herself from smiling. Even though it had been love at first sight she had no idea how important this squirrel faunus would become in her eyes. Now that they were together her heart felt filled once again.
