Description Ok, i said that i'd do Batman Vintage, but.. maybe this is.. too much Vintage!

I present you, Richard Wayne, an eccentric and very rich hero of the past, knew as "The Black Baron" or "The Human Bat" for his great pilot skills.

You think this is quite Steampunk... yeah, you've right!

Wish you all like this... strange version of the most batly superhero!

Done In photoshop CS5, in 12 hours of work.

I really like this, but would have liked to seen him darker,Β  i.e. his facial hair more inline with his ancestorΒ  & maybe have some of the metal work and leather work be black or a darker shade of brown

Probably! but my purpose wasn't to create an easy to recognize batman... i just wanted to create an alternative version of him, and i think that the Facial hair exalt the Steampunk's idea!

I meant wouldn't Steampunk Batman and Richard Wayne having identical facial hair the kind of give away that would be out of character for the ever stealthy Batman

This is a World war soldier, the "Black Baron" i don't think that he need an hidden identity, contrariwise he wants to be remembered as "Richard Wayne" not as "Batman".
I think that sometimes the characters we create have a little story behind even the simpler design. i tried to gave him a very.. "proud of himself" looks trying to make visible that he doesn't want to cover or hide his own identity, he is eccentric and quite mad. (What healthy person could go around with a leather clock, dressed like a bat, hitting enemy's soldiers with just his own hand?)

Really nice work overall! Looks like it belongs in the Watchmen universe. The only thing holding it back in my opinion is the plane in the background. You should try maybe a faded out steampunkish Gotham City for a background. I think the impact would improve 100 percent!

You know.. i usually don't change my work after i decide they are finished. I liked the idea of put the plane behind Batman. He feels a little more like... a sponsorship campaign for army enlistment, or something like that ^^
Having a City in the background could brake the Batman's importance in this pic, and i wanted to focus the attention on his costume.
By the way, your ideas could be better than mines, but i like to leave all my works how i wanted to show them to public, without filters ^^ (Wish you'll understand my terrible english XD )
