Description
Dear Me,i always wanted to fly away
like the gulls, ravens, parrots and sparrows.
easily whenever i'd like to.
whenever i want and need it.
maybe i'll wake up with wings (one day).
Continue believing.
Love, Alex

Generally speaking, bird pics are a dime a dozen, usually out of focus, the bird's too far away or it's a sad zoo specimen. Then there are the exceptions, & this is one of them. This pic has a little of everything- dynamic composition, a unique point of view, it captures the energy of flight while at the same time perfectly freezing the moment. It's difficult capturing birds in flight, probably equal parts luck & skill, but luck & skill have combined here to create something magical. No static portrait, no damaged zoo bird- this is a creature in its element, elegant, relaxed & presented to the viewer in a way that makes you stop & LOOK.

opiumtraum's excellent and utterly justified critique - truly, praise - brought me here. Wow. It is well worth it. I am especially attached to birds - both my first names are birds, Rook and Robin. I collect really excellent bird pictures in various media but I've rarely been this blown away/moved. You captured - no, I don't like that word, it sounds like trapping something, and this is just the opposite. You freed flight, in the minds of every person who will see this.
