It looks better in my opinion, the style gives of more weight in the characters and it doesn't look like there filled with helium. Usually you use too many
''light effect'' spots and that gives the characters a balloon animal look.
Then again it depends on what you want to draw, sometimes you want thicker outlines and in other cases not so much.

No I don't mind, both have their advantages and disadvantages depending on what you want to draw I prefer the more ''american comic'' thick outline stuff but thin line art can also be really good.
1 is not better than the other, it's how you execute the style that gives an advantage over the other. (in my opinion) When you've drawn something try to draw the same drawing in an other style and see what you prefer. I think you should keep doing both and stay creative draw something you usually would never think to draw and give a shot at it.
