I think less people are upset about this one because Butterfree doesn't get a ton of love nowadays. Every other Pokemon shown in the trailer is used excessively trying to pander to older fans.

You're right, many of us hoped for a mega Butterfree years ago and now we have this giga form...which I like actually, but it remains just a form from a feature that will be abandoned in the next generation.
