He's a friendly plaything for kids...I made this image for fun, but decided to record the entire process. Once I felt the image was done and got some postive feedback, I decided to make a tutorial about how I made it. It is available at [link] Note: Gnomonology is not a free site. But its cool.

The image is really intriguing. For some reason it recalls the designs from early adventure games, back when PC games had that gritty, dark, completely wacked out look like in Planescape Torment, Abes Oddysee, Light and Darkness, and the first Diablo.
Fantastic rendering and I think there's a story in here somewhere

I have a question though, what software do you use for 3-D digital art? I just bought a Bamboo and have been using Corel Painter, (cause it was free with the Bamboo...) but I really want to try artwork like this. I'm kinda new to the whole digital sketch pad/ really lost on whats good and whats not good software..

I think he used some softwares, but for modeling/sculpting he used Zbrush.

Maybe you should try Sculptris: [link] or [link] - Alternative (free) light software which enough for 3D sculpting.
