Description I figuered that after a semester of cartoon animals, it was high time that I remind myself how to draw cartoon humans. It was a little bit trickier this time around, mostly because I couldn't get critiques/advice from my character design teacher while working on it, so I was relying on my gut instincts.

But never the less it was fun to draw. I had the idea in my head of a very snobby and condescending theatre actor, and felt like he would be a good place to start when it comes to practicing cartoon humans. Overall I'm okay with how most of this turned out, but I don't feel like it's my best efforts.

As always, constructive criticism is welcomed and appreciated.

I finally realized who this reminded me of when I flipped through your stuff today when I rewatched Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

This guy reminds me of Gilderoy Lockhart.

They do kind of have similar personalities so that would make sense.

Oh wow, a rather expressive character if I do say so myself. Haha, I am rather fond out how over the top and exaggerated his actions and reactions are presented in this sheet. It's a rather refreshing view toward cartoons I have seen as of late that lack that sort of charm.

It's actually pretty impressive how you manage to maintain proportions and anatomy throughout the various versions of this character on the page. I imagine you're rather experienced with that sort of thing.

Do you intend to flesh out the design a bit more and use this character further in the future? If that's the case, I'd image a turnaround page and perhaps a color reference of some sort would also help you reach that end. Maybe more ranged expressions would also work, given different scenarios this character may find himself in. Not to say these aren't ranged, though sadness and perhaps melancholy may works as well. I can only imagine what would happen to this character, though you certainly have me intrigued. Either way, regardless of whether or not you do end up deciding to use him, I do look forward to seeing more of you work!

Well thanks, I really appreciate that you took the time to give me your insight, it really means a lot to me. I'm not sure if I will flesh out the design in the future. At the moment this was just a rough idea that I was using to practice on (I'm in an animation course and I don't want to get rusty over the summer). If this were a more official model sheet or something that I was planning on using in the future then I would definitely have included a sadness expression or maybe have done a separate turnaround. But since it was just for practice I didn't think too much of it. Thanks for pointing it out to me, and I'm glad you like it

Well, I think you've done an excellent job here in conveying his personality; he looks like a real drama queen! I particularly like the drawing of him in the bottom left corner, it's just perfect!

I need to practice drawing humans as well, and as such, I don't really feel qualified to give a proper critique on this. From the looks of it though, there are no glaring faults that need attention, and you draw humans very well, even if you feel it isn't one of your best efforts.

Thanks, I was going for the whole drama queen angle
