Description I finally got around to painting the last character design assignment I worked on, as I found myself with a bit of free time this weekend.

I really like the actions you've chosen for both of your characters' pose sheets; they all look very expressive and convey emotion and (in some of the cases) movement! I love their designs also, easily identifiable as a hero and a villain, yet unique enough to make them distinguished characters in their own right. Excellent work.

Thanks again my friend. I'm glad you like the designs, I'm working on animating the two of them right now.

The figure on the left's a bit off putting for me because the head seems too far back given the line of his back doesnt seem to line up even if it curved a bunch with his shoulders. It's not off by much but it's the slightness that's making seem weird to me.

Might want to watch the tail like Wallow said.

Otherwise the outfit and face are nicely consistent.

This guy is cute c: only one thing that stands out to me, and that is that the tail seems much lower on the left and right poses than in the middle. In fact I feel like they all vary, just slightly. In the middle it looks like it's coming out about where the belt is, to the left it's much lower than the middle and it seems a little bit longer, and to the right it seems long again and also is pretty low (compared to the middle)

Also I thought I would just ask how do you do your shading? Like what color is it? I don't have a mind for color and wanted to know.

Thank you for pointing that out, I'll watch out for things like that in the future. The shading is a relatively simple process. Because this is cel shading I basically just block in the shadows on a separate layer (sometimes I use a hue/saturation adjustment layer). The colors I choose depend on the lighting, but you usually take the base color and find a darker tone and a cooler hue. For this drawing, I also applied some backlighting on a seperate layer. For added effect you can create yet another layer (set it to "color") and create a clipping mask, and then on that layer use different colors to pop highlights or add warm/cool contrast.
