VISION: 4/5
There is something innocent about this scene. The smile and lively spark in Lily's eye and Severus' near smile, and questioning gaze. The innocence really creates the feeling of euphoria I get when I view this (more on that in Impact).
ORIGINALITY: 4/5
This seems like one of those "off screen" moments from the books, form Severus' memory. The view, zoomed in on them (as if they are in the view finder of a camera) gives the scene a light feeling - reminds me, as the viewer, of moments in my life and people around whom I've felt the same.
TECHNIQUE: 4.5/5
Severus' Expression: Seems out of place. Feels half-hearted in comparison to Liy. I feel a closed-mouth half-smile may be better suited to Severus' personality rather than open-mouthed confusion.
Wrinkles: Around the elbows, shoulders, and chest I could see wrinkles being pronounced, but there seems to be an overabundance of wrinkled in their clothes. In the larger aspect of the piece that isn't such a bad thing, but it may be something to remember in the future - is to make wrinkles more subtle.
Scenery: I like how the scene focuses on the base of the tree, and the background has a hazy quality, the focus being on Severus and Lily. It's refreshing.
Light: Stellar job with the light filtering, especially since they're under the tree but also the light in the background, and the "light" in Lily's eyes.
IMPACT 5/5
I remember three specific times in life. The first being when I met my friend Samantha and we had a sleepover at her house. That feeling of my innocence being illuminate by her and her maturity. The second, when I met my best friend ~JansonKlivian-4-pres in sunday school. and Thirdly, when I spend time with my best friend ~Secret-Owl and I feel that energy charge that Lily exudes.
I think that's what makes your art easy to relate to. Not just as a fan of Severus/Lily but also the feeling captured in this moment is something people have felt at some time in their life.
