I wanted the game to end with them still together. They should have ended it with them together. It's an awful travesty that Konami did not give Kojima the time and money to complete the story and to allow him to give her a resolution in which she would come back to Venom in the end. (But in the end we have been left with the Phantom Pain of her and the memories that we are left with)

seridvet sorry to burst your bubble, but Kijima confirmed that the novelization was false and that she did not set herself on fire so it's left open as to what really happened to her. The parasites can't infect her lungs because their destroyed so she's just wandering the desert alone. ;____;
