beautiful work! If you don't mind answering, how did you go about turning that light into a 'light surface'? I'm struggling with this.

Sorry for the late response, if you are using v-ray, there is a material for lighting mesh objects, its called V-rayLightMtl.
Thanks!

Ah, sorry for not answering, I must have missed it.
I used V-ray sun in combination with v-ray light and HDRI. For the daylight scene I used only the vray sun and hdri(i`m just testing, combinations and such). For the lamp i used a v-ray light material, normal settings.
For the floor material I used a falloff reflection, if you need more info just tell me, I`ll email.

oh my ! first of all i want to say thanks a lot alex!
xd its okay that you'v missed it heh
hm, look.. i dont know much about materials (i know how to do chrome, glass and more basic things but thats all)
so if you can let me see how you set any of the materials (by export the material set) it will be really helpfull for me.
of course, if you can let me overview you'r 3ds file so i can learn how to use light, and all this. and if you do, i will never stop say thanks .
because ive seen your style, and i really liked it. alot.
of course that i wont share any thing of you send me .. i sware the god..

I'd like to know how you did the light in second shot. Thanks.

AlexCom In reply to 3DFXman [2010-07-05 18:28:05 +0000 UTC]
The lighting is done only with 3 vraylight materials on three cylinders(inside the lamp) no other lights used.
