Kool, Alex ! Love the skillful use of atmosphere in the mercurial sky, and the Β economy of detail in the rain forest foliage . I remember this story . it is one i have re-read many times, and probably will again . Is this the one with Olmec in it ? the balance between the foreground and the background here is a dearly acquired skill, knowing what to enhance, and what to leave out. also, your palette in this one is a little different than your more recent works, very much in the classic tradition of Howard Pyle and J Allen St John . also, the 'contrary motion' of the two character's stance is admirable. Β BRAVO !

Thanks, man! Yeah, I tried a more limited palette, here. Yep, this is the one with Olmec. Being an interior illustration I felt more freedom to leave some areas with just enough detail, less "polished" than usual, a rougher look that I think fits better the scene.
