After seeing this article for the Celestia talking doll [link] I got an idea for the opening of Season 3. A mysterious pony tricks Celestia into taking something called the "Princess Drug". The Mane Six wake up to find Equestria far more cutesy than they remember. The reason is because Celestia is now extremely self-absorbed with how she looks and if she could attract any stallions. It's up to the Mane six to give Celestia her depth back.

This was driving me nuts, too! For such a great show, why are the toys so messed up? The other ponies have hair issues, baby pinkie pie
looks like an alien monster, some of the AppleJack toys don't have a hat, Spike is on all fours, I could go on and on...
