Description After the big success that was The LEGO Movie, Warner Animation Group released in 2016 a cartoony animated movie about storks and i was curious about the movie and i thought the trailers were hilarious. Let's see if this movie flies high. No pun intended. The story is about the legend of storks delivering babies to new parents and what happened to it nowadays. Due to how hard and dangerous it is to deliver babies, the storks decided to stop delivering babies and turned their for mer baby factory into a Amazon style company. The setting of the story is actually really creative and it does open up to a good movie. As for the plot itself, it's not as impressive as the setting, but it makes sense to be about this. The plot is inspired by Arthur Christmas about delivering an important package and modernizing a legend. The theme in here is more about family and raising a baby. It's good and all, but it does come with a few flaws. With a plot about delivering a baby along with other goals from the main characters, it's easily predictable. For example, this kid wants a baby sibling. Guess what happens. Tulip wants to be reunited with her family. Guess what happens. Junior wants to be the boss. Guess what happens. There are also a few scenes that are filler. I don't care about cutting to the family fixing up their house and anticipation for the baby. However, with all of that, there is one thing that saves it from being a dull story and that's the comedy. It actually does work as a non-stop comedy. Some jokes just leave a few chuckles, but there are guaranteed other that do bring out a good laugh. It's not the best story, but it does have it's good moments. The animation of the movie is what i call cartoony animation done right. The designs and character animation with the use of Looney Tunes style squash and stretch match perfectly together. Cornerstore and the baby factory are interesting to look at. As for the characters, there are some that i feel like the movie tries way too hard to make them likeable. Junior (voiced by Andy Samberg) is the main character who's going to be the next boss of cornerstore. Tulip (voiced by Katie Crown aka Izzy from Total Drama) is the orphan who works on the side and can be a bit of a troublemaker. The movie does focus a lot on their chemistry and character development. The big problem with them is that they both have similar personnalities. They both try to be the eccentric funny man. When they argue, it's like if they try to outwit each other, instead of having one acting more serious. They are still likeable, but they don't have the best execution. As for the villains, Hunter provides some great humor by presenting himself of how he is the big head of Cornerstore. Pigeon Toady has this strange contrasting personnality and presents himself as a straight-forward businessman. He can give a few chuckles. And then there's the wolf pack. On one side, they serve as an obstacle for Junior and Tulip to protect the baby that don't contribute to anything else in the story. But, on the other hand, they deliver some of the funniest moments of the movie, especially these two alpha wolves voiced by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele. The family who waits for the baby do have an important role to the plot, because the kid wants a younger sibling and the letter he sent is why the protagonist has a baby in the first place, but like i said, there's no need to keep cutting to their subplot when it contributes to nothing of what is actually going on. These characters are well-developped and funny, but the execution of the movie shows that it does work or needs work. Overall, Storks may not be the best animated movie of the year, but it brought some good cartoon fun. Sure, some parts of the movie are not well-executed. But it does make up with strong animation and great comedy. I give it a 7/10. Worth it for a good laugh. By the way, i still remember watching the animated short that came with the movie in theaters called The Master. It's a short based on The Lego Ninjago Movie and it was funny and i think all LEGO Movie fans will enjoy and laugh at this.
