Description
Oh boy, it's time to look at a true classic and a very important movie in animation history. Even if we have seen hand-drawn cartoon characters interacting with live-action people before this movie was released, they were actually just one or two scenes of a movie instead of a full move where you see cartoon characters and live-action people have the same amount of screentime in the entire movie. The story is basically a film noir style movie, set in the 1940s, where a detective named Eddie Valiant (Bob Hoskins) has to solve the mystery behind the murder of Marvin Acme who owns ToonTown and everyone thinks it's Roger Rabbit who committed the murder since that his wife Jessica Rabbit (who is actually a hot babe) had some kind of night with him. But then, Valiant would later discover that Roger didn't commit the murder and that it's something far bigger that involves the cartoons. As the movie progresses, the more the mystery and the execution of the plot becomes more engaging and entertaining to watch. Robert Zemeckis is the perfect choice for this movie. What i love about this movie is how it balances the humor where you have dirty jokes for adults and classic cartoony slapstick comedy for kids. The animation on the cartoon characters is phenomenal and can be considered revolutionnary. When you watch the movie, with the amount of detail in the special effects between live-action and animation, they blend in perfectly and it actually feels like these cartoon characters are actually there. The way the cartoon characters move are wonderfully done by Richard Williams and his team. I would say that it was a nice break for him to work on this movie instead of a certain animated movie that he took forever to make (The Thief and the Cobbler). The characters also have to be loveable in a detective or film noir movie and luckily, they certainly are. Eddie Valiant is a drunken detective who had a bad experience with Toons because of the death of his brother and would even often go to a bar owned by his ex-girlfriend Dolores. Once he is involved in the mystery and would eventually learn that Roger Rabbit was framed all along, he slowly but surely grows back his attachment to Toons. Roger Rabbit is the goofball that suddenyl got himself into this mess and wants to clear his name. R.K Maroon and Jessica Rabbit are like the suspects of the movie. Baby Herman is the surprisingly adult cartoon baby who smokes cigars and Roger Rabbit's co-star in his cartoons. And then, there's Judge Doom (Christopher Lloyd) who would stop at nothing to get rid of Roger Rabbit by killing him in a goo that is capable of killing off cartoon characters called Β«The DipΒ». By the way, i like how the live-action people are the more serious characters and the cartoon charatcers are more of the comic reliefs whose purpose is to entertain people. And of course, this movie is full of memorable and wonderful cameos of classic cartoon characters that all know like Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck, Goofy, Daffy Duck, Betty Boop, Woody Woodpecker, Tweety, Porky Pig, Tinker Bell and so much more. Overall, Who Framed Roger Rabbit is a true masterpiece with an engaging story, wonderful special effects and memorable characters. I give it a 10/10. I love every single minute of this movie, it's one of my favorite movies of all time.Related content
