Description After the success of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, a follow-up was already planned. It was originally called Roger Rabbit 2: The Toon Platoon which is a prequel that focused on Roger Rabbit looking for his parents during the Nazi war of World War 2 and would meet Jessica Rabbit and Baby Herman along the way. There was a rumor that says that Bugs Bunny is Roger Rabbit's father. This planned storyline was scrapped and got a big rewrite where Eric Goldberg was hired as animation director. This one was supposed to be a musical where Alan Manken was hired to compose the songs. Disney still wasn't sure to make the movie direct-to-video or theatrical. The animation for this movie has a brand new style where it's a mix of hand-drawn, CGI and live-action. After Disney saw a test footage with the new animation on Roger Rabbit, they were not happy and that unfortunately got cancelled. Several years later in the late 2000s, Robert Zemeckis was still intersted to make a sequel to Roger Rabbit and Bob Hoskins showed interest of reprising his role as Eddie Valiant. It was going to be made by ImageMovers Digital where Robert Zemeckis got an idea to still make the cartoon characters hand-drawn and the rest would a mix of live-action and digital motion-capture. After ImageMovers Digital was shut down due to the failure of Mars Needs Moms, a sequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit was still in development. Unfortunately, Bob Hoskins passed away in 2014, Robert Zemeckis is still confident to make a sequel or prequel without him and was still hesitant to make a digital Eddie Valiant. After several rewrites and continuing interest to use hand-drawn, Robert Zemeckis never got a chance to greenlit the project. Disney recently shows little interest of making a follow-up to Roger Rabbit. Overall, despite how Robert Zemeckis still wants to make a sequel or prequel to Roger Rabbit, maybe Disney would someday make a Roger Rabbit sequel if they decide to do it.
