Description
So, here goes... this time it's an entry for a contest held by that has Chess Pieces as a theme.

So... piece description:

He, Shunsui, is a Bishop, in a chess game between The Gotei 13 ( + Ichigo, Urahara etc... ) and Aizen's Army.

I know that given the nature of good and evil, white would be only logical but I find that Black is more fitting and the reason lies in Bleach itself. You see I've noticed that Kubo likes to give Black Colored themes to good guys ( Ichigo, Visards, Gotei 13 etc...) and White Colored one's to bad guys ( Shirosaki, Aizen etc...). Thus, he is a black bishop belonging to the "black army" of the Gotei 13

Now, unlike most other "themed chess sets", here the second Black Bishop is NOT Shunsui as well but Jushiro Ukitake, and that is one of the reasons I chose to do Shunsui in the first place. You see the way I see it, one of the advantages of having a pair of Bishops is how well they work together and how wide an area they can protect on the board, and in a similar way, Shunsui and Ukitake seem to have powers that compliment each other's and to be able to make quite a strong fighting duo.

The main reason I chose to have shunsui be a bishop, though, is that bishops ( thinking always of the way I use them personally) are mainly used to skewer and pin, now I've always thought of these moves as somewhat of a hide and seek game on the chess board and THAT is what makes Shunsui and Ukitake just PERFECT Bishops in my eyes. Since Shunsui's power is "to make children's game's real" and Ukitake's Zanpakuto IS actually a pair of Children that like to play hide and seek. Moreover, I couldn't help but notice, how the way Kyoraku fought on both his fight with Starrk and with Aizen, was to wait for a chance to strike while someone else created an opening. Now I don't know about you but that sounds a lot like a Skewer to me.

Now, as far as colors go. The way I imagine the set the pieces are all made of White Gold and Black Marble and the color of the piece is only shown on the ribbed surface of the base. With the Light Colored pieces having Sea-Blue Colored Bases and the Dark Colored pieces having Deep-Red Colored Bases.

I must admit, I've been searching for a chance to do Kyoraku using Kageoni ever since I first laid eyes upon it, and there it was The very moment I read about the contest I knew exactly what I'd draw. It's been fun and ofc I hope I win

I drew this as always using Sakura Pigma Micron 0.2,0.3,0.5 black fine-liners and a black marker.

I should also add, that this is Kyoraku Shunsui of Bleach and that both he and the series belong to Tite Kubo
