Description
this is a matte sketch I did today just for fun. I found a great photo to work from( I put it in the scraps section) of a remnant of an evergreen forest out in the middle of nowhere. I figured it need a swarm of giant bugs racingRelated content

Love the turbine-like structures on the rock and, definitely, the bug-machines. Though I have to point out that one of them seems a bit off... I think it is too detailed considering the distance and it misses a shadow beneath.
Everything else is

I really like it. You did great making one really close and blurred it. Great sense of speed and motion, too.

Wow, I think of the machines from "War Of The Worlds" (Spielberg's vision) when I see that...

The detail on that wheel thing is great, and you've got some excellent rocky texture going on there
Nice bugs- looks like some heavy copying and pasting
You continue to amaze me!

Another way cool piece bro.
I really dig how you integrated the mechaniocal elements into the rock faces. (And, as always, your bug machines rock!!!)

Very nice.
I'm curious, how did you get that textured-look on the metallic structure?

AlexRuizArt In reply to jaywalkerprodigy [2007-02-20 19:18:29 +0000 UTC]
..thanks... as for texture, I just google what I need, in this case 'rocky' stuff, and lay it over the image. then you just mess with the layer properties/adjustments to blend it in.

Wow, since the eye's on the two closest bugs are so stylized, it looks like an attack fleet rushing to attack something. Superb job on the motion blurs, it really feels like they're moving extremely fast.

As always you convey scale in a truly amazing fashion. The way you captured the motion of the bugs is also absolutely amazing. And, of course, I can think of few images/things that would not be improved by giant bugs. I honestly have to say your art is some of the best stuff I've ever seen on DA. Most Deviants are sort of idiot savants - they excel in one or two areas like coloring OR line-art, but fail at the rest. Your art always seems fresh, innovative, and masterful.
/End amazing praise mode.
Love the stuff man, keep it up.
