Description

7 light years and one eternity later, I present you...

the tutorial.

Here's the deal: this is the first nail art tutorial I've ever done; I only figured my photo set-up out when I was done taking the pictures and was very unhappy with them and myself until I started editing (what is sequence of tenses, I don't know, it's late). Then I quite liked them. Aaaaaaanywho, if there's anything unclear, or there's a stupid typo (typed in 'shop, didn't proofread), do ask/tell. Please. Sorry. Okay.

NOTE: this technique can be used not only on nails, but basically anywhere: shoes, clothes, starships... Only keep in mind that the waterdrop halo trick won't work on porous surfaces.

WARNING: please, make sure your acrylic paint is non-toxic!

Please, don't re-upload this stuff anywhere. And show me your manis if you decide to try it.

Peace

I HAVE TO TRY THIS SO BAD!!!!!! D8
shame I dont know what base coat and top coat are ._.
P.S: do you need to wait for the nail polish to dry first before you start adding the acrylic paint on them (the purple thing)?
...no I dont know much about manicures.. ._.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

alexskyline In reply to Yorulla [2013-12-27 03:13:06 +0000 UTC]

Base coat is a special polish that helps your colour polish adhere better, protects you nails from pigmentation and may have strengthening properties. Top coat is a special polish that adds gloss to your manicure and makes it last longer. It also seals your designs so they don't scratch/wash off.

Yes, you need to let your polish dry completely before you sponge, because you can smudge it or leave marks on it.

It depends on your budget and location...let me think. You can try Revlon (I think it's sold everywhere), it has nice reviews and the bottles looks like this: i.imgur.com/LFk8c.jpg

Shouldn't be very expensive, either!

I would advise against using acrylics on your body, given that they're COMPLETELY UNSAFE CARCINOGENS. They can also cause nerve damage.

Smothering yourself in tons of layers of Acrylic paint for the entire day is bad.

Putting a tiny, tiny, tiny amount on your nails that won't even last that long isn't.

Don't go around spreading crap, doesn't even look like you've read the blog, which doesn't even mention nails.

OH MY GOD, SPREADING CRAP?
YEAH, I'M LYING.

jfc did you just get belligerently angry because I pointed out the fact that the pigments contained in acrylics are known carcinogens? Like, I'm not sure if you're aware, but...the nails???? are part of tHE BODY?????????? SHOCK?????

Just pointing out that there's a difference between skin and nails. You're the one that looks angry to me.

alexskyline In reply to Rinnian [2013-12-27 02:54:45 +0000 UTC]

We've discussed this matter earlier in the comments already. Not every acrylic paint contains those pigments, I know mine don't. Even if they did, the amount that goes onto your skin is minute and so is the time they stay there. They wouldn't be more dangerous than a nail polish that contains big-3 ingredients (toluene formaldehyde and dbp).

Talent. I want.

I have....nail polish and access to a sponge. No acrylic paint though. Boo hiss.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

alexskyline In reply to ForgottenByDarkness [2013-12-27 03:16:39 +0000 UTC]

It takes more patience than it does talent, slow and steady really win the race here.

Oh, there are many cheaper paints out of there, and you basically only need 2 colours: white and, um, a colour of your choice. You can get a hundred of shades by mixing them!

Sugary-Sky In reply to ??? [2013-12-27 00:09:40 +0000 UTC]

Nice, but acrylic paint can potentially be hazardous and you should be super careful with getting it on your skin because it can contain heavy metals (which are poisonous and will be absorbed through your skin). Thought you should know about that

👍: 0 ⏩: 3

BiscuitoSauce In reply to Sugary-Sky [2013-12-27 03:03:09 +0000 UTC]

So many people are saying this, it's stupid.

If you start swallowing tubes of it or smothering yourself with tons of layers of it for the entire day, that's bad. Just putting it on your nails is just as dangerous as normal nail polish- It isn't.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

alexskyline In reply to Sugary-Sky [2013-12-27 02:40:16 +0000 UTC]

I agree with ~SpongeMuffin , not every paint (colour- and brand-wise) contains them; and those that do have a warning on the tube. Even so, the concentration is relatively small, so unless you eat the whole tube they aren't that scary. It's the same thing with the non-3-big-free polishes, really.

The paints I use here are non-toxic, and the polishes are 3-big-free.
