awesome work, I love the blood veins on his arm, the face is great too, its such a pain to sculpt faces.

Well thank you very much, that always means a lot coming from another sculptor. I tend to block first then work the face, I can't feel a piece until it looks back at me.

Hey man your Artwork is amazing!! Could you tell me how did you make the veins?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AliasGhost In reply to TROWLY [2010-03-12 18:32:30 +0000 UTC]

Thank you I appreciate that. For veins I lay down a line of sculpey and blend it with tools and then using a soft paint brush I apply small amounts of rubbing alcohol being carefull not to melt any important details.

Thank you very much, I use Super Sculpey mixed to gray with Black Sculpey III or Premo!

I checked out your stuff as well, very nice sculpts.

Β‘SURE! i think that's a great work
would you tell me
how you do to smooth your sculpture ?
it looks smooth and shiny
what you use to do that?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AliasGhost In reply to theanger [2008-11-04 23:47:06 +0000 UTC]

Thanks man, I mostly hand smooth but for hard to reach areas I use rubbing alcohol and a medium paint brush, but it can melt away detail if you use too much.

I think you can try to sell it to "Mezco" or "Gentle Giant" company since they hold the Hellboy licence.

It won't hurt to give a try. Plus, you just post this thing up so nobody in those company might see it. It is hard to say that they won't be interested to make an status or action figure out of this. I think you might make more money if you sell to those company.

Also, as a consumer, I would love to see this figure in mass production. I have almost every Hellboy action figures out there and I want this one. And, I have to say this is probably the best one out there.

So please give a try!

If only, I might try and shop it to some of the kit companies though.

i found grey super sculpey. called: super sculpey firm.
u ever worked with it, if yes, is it good recommendable?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AliasGhost In reply to hurzdischnurz [2008-07-30 04:44:43 +0000 UTC]

Actually it's exactly the same as regular Super Sculpey but it's grey and yeah it's a little more firm. I have been thinking about ordering some just for high detail area's like faces etc and the price is negligible minus the shipping of course. Long story short some pros use it and for some it's too firm, I'm pretty happy using what I have though I would like to try a box.

hurzdischnurz In reply to AliasGhost [2008-07-30 13:04:19 +0000 UTC]

yah i also think its very firm and almost crumply. but as u said: for face and maybe hands its maybe good.

hi.
just a question: how do u smoothen the clay?
u use electric machines or....
greetings

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AliasGhost In reply to hurzdischnurz [2008-07-28 20:33:22 +0000 UTC]

I am constantly smoothing by hand as I sculpt, when I'm done with the bulk of the sculpting I use a medium or soft brush and rubbing alcohol and paint it over areas I want smooth, this can melt detail so it's best to practice on an area that doesn't have any. I use polymer tipped clay shapers for corners etc that are hard to reach. Hope that helps. Theres a picture of my tools in my 'scraps' area.

thx for answering so detailed. watched at ur tools aswell. and i always wondered, where to buy grey sculpey. now i know its just mixed.
i thought u would make the material hard and then get over with a polisher or so. i guess isnt smart, cause of tiny moonies.
have to ask other good scultpors, if they do same way as u.

looking forward to ur tutorial. always nice to see, how people do their great stuff.
regards

BTW, I meant to ask... Why is the gun white?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AliasGhost In reply to Jino-SilverflamE [2008-07-27 09:53:35 +0000 UTC]

It's just a primer coat, otherwise it would look like the wood, plumbers putty and metal that I made it out of.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jino-SilverflamE In reply to AliasGhost [2008-07-27 11:19:44 +0000 UTC]

OK! Thanks for the explanation.

BTW... Do you plan on colouring the model? (9I have noticed you don't often do that, but still - there's a few sculpts in your gallery that are amazing and it would be a shame not to finish them up with a few coats of paints))

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AliasGhost In reply to Jino-SilverflamE [2008-07-27 19:18:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, painting is my weakest point, so I avoid it if at all possible. I actually plan to send some of these off and have them painted by people much better than myself, but that will have to wait until I can afford it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jino-SilverflamE In reply to AliasGhost [2008-07-27 23:50:11 +0000 UTC]

OK!
But... I did see some painted things in your gallery. You didn't do that?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AliasGhost In reply to Jino-SilverflamE [2008-07-28 01:58:36 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I painted those.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jino-SilverflamE In reply to AliasGhost [2008-07-28 09:20:02 +0000 UTC]

Well, you did a great job with those as well.
I don't think you NEED to send them for someone else to paint.
