Description
So for those of you in the Miss. Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children Fandom, I'm sure you'v seen the trailer for the movie adaptation by Tim Burton. I typically get extremely nervous when they consider a book series to be filmed for the big screen. In my opinion, they did justice to the Hunger Games and Divergent series, and the Maze Runner adaptation was pretty good as well. I understand with movie adaptations they need to change a lot of details and we can't expect them to be spot on to the book descriptions or what we all picture in our minds, but with the Peculiar Children trailer, I can't help but be extremely bugged by one thing: WHY DID THEY SWITCH EMMA AND OLIVE'S POWERS?! Like, Emma is supposed to be the "girl on fire"!! GAH! And the fact that they changed all the ages so drastically bugs me too. They made Bronwyn a very little girl, when she is supposed to be one of the older kids along with Emma, Jacob, Hugh, and Fiona!Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's going to be a great movie, and I have nothing against the actors, but when comparing it to the book, there are already so many things that have been changed!
I'll still be seeing the film, but I will always imagine the characters as they are described in the book, as well as depicted pretty accurately in the graphic novel version

I rather have the book than the movie because they did some things that did not agree me. I love the movie, just it was off for me. You what I mean?

The movie would have been fine if it was like its own thing, but the fact that it was supposed to be based on the book it was definitely off on so many ways

I will indeed NEVER get over the total disregard of the original content. They took my favourite character in the whole series and made her a side character. The real Emma deserves better!!!

The movie was good, but they just HAD to torture me by not casting Olive as her true, adorable self

Fire is who she is! You can't just change it. Because airgirl1901@gmail.com just doesn't have the same ring to it.
I almost forgot however that they changed Bronwyn. I think I've just been imagining her as a much smaller girl for the 2nd and 3rd books, not that that is a bad thing. The juxtaposition of her small size with her incredible strength was quite amusing, and I can see why the filmmakers chose to do it.

My Mum said the adaptation was very close to the book but one thing that confused her was Olive and Emma - it took her a while to work out how they differed in the book. (We saw it at the cinema last Saturday.)

Forgiveness does not want to offend anyone but I'm tired of everyone complaining about the differences and history between the movie and the book it is only an adaptation also Movies adapted to a book will also change some thing about all its history.
well I also read the book but the peculiarities of emma and olive I got the same, but this is my opinion and I hope no offense, but tell the truth thanks U-U

Every time I see the poster at the movie theater, I yell at it, saying, "EMMA STOP. YOU DON'T FLOAT!"

Yeah, I'm very surprised by that too. I'm a fan of Tim Burton but I'm not sure I like this changes.
You draw Emma from the book with blonde blonde hair. Is there the description of her haircolor somewhere? Jacob said she has grey eyes only in the middle of the second book, but I still didn't find anything about her hair.
P.S. I haven't finished the second book yet, so please don't tell any spoilers to me.

I'm pretty sure somewhere in the series there's a mentioning of Emma having light hair. As for how I drew book Emma and Olive, I half-based them off how they appear in the graphic novel version, because I found it appeared very accurate to the descriptions and photos in the books.

Thank you! I wish to draw her as the author describes her. Maybe I'll search for the description of her look in books again a bit later.
