Finally finished, here's a Dark Cloud fanart piece (haven't done one in a while) featuring Toan and Seda. It's been ages since I did a piece featuring Seda (those are sketches I'm glad are missing heh) so for this piece, I wanted to give Seda a regal appearance but also a bit casual as well (I know I didn't do so great with his royal garment) and for Toan, it was just his usual gear. Overall, I wanted this piece to tell that the both of them were connected with the start of their never ending adventure since Toan's journey begins thanks to Seda and Seda's kingship (and to extent journey) is thanks to Toan (via the atlamillia). The expressions are also meant to be distinctive and related to their story (Toan looks toward the start of his adventure hopefully whereas Seda is has a more serious determined gaze).
Skethced in pencil a few days back, traced with colored pencils (over the course of a few days . . .), erased the base and colored in with colored pencils (the background with pastel pencils hence the sloppiness with the clouds. Toan and Seda are from Dark Cloud which belongs to Level-5 (the title partially comes from Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicles musical piece, NeverEnding Adventure which also belongs to Level-5). Done for fun and not for profit.

Why has no one else drawn just these two in pictures together?? I feel like the only other person whose drawn them together. *sniff* They are undoubtedly the best characters in the whole game, with Xiao coming in second.

Perhaps it just come down to popularity and difficulty . . . I mean, despite having other memorable characters, including Xiao and Miss(Ms) Ruby, technically Toan is the main character of the Dark Cloud and the face of the game; it's who first pops into people's head whenever they think of Dark Cloud (in reference to the first game anyways). Personally, I always found Seda to be a more memorable character, but perhaps that had to do with a weakness for silver-haired antagonist type heros heh (well, his design helped) but if one does analyze the story of Dark Cloud, it all begins with Seda and Toan respectively so both can be called the main characters in a sense. Reading your comment makes me want to work on some Dark Cloud fanart, perhaps the next one I do should be of these two again heh.

Definitely! Recently I drew chibis of them holding their swords. I also noticed that you draw Final Fantasy and Sailor Moon. Dark Cloud, Sailor Moon, Final Fantasy, and Spyro are most most favorited things of all time.

Hehe, I think I've tried doing fanart to just about every game I own, including one of Spyro, though I never uploaded it to DeviantART since I thought it didn't look that great and I felt that perhaps fans of Spyro would be offended by it, so I've stuck with what I'm comfy. I always admired the style of Sailor Moon and since I grew up with it, I never get tired of doing fanart for it every now and then. When it comes to Dark Cloud though, there is plenty of room for imagination since there's no actual voices, some details were left open (especially with the second game as I always suspected that Monica could be a descendant of Seda, if not his daughter), and the story itself was just great that it leaves much room for fanart (same with Dark Cloud 2).

When it comes to Monica possibly being related to Seda, me and my best friend both believe that she is his granddaughter. Maybe Seda and Sophia had a son who was born with witch blood and thus got a longer lifespan then his parents, and we called him: Edwin! XD Funny name for the son of Seda. In my comic a horrible "accident" happens to Seda and his Kingdom but his son does survive though he does lose both parents and he's only 12 when this happens to him. Sad huh? AND yet what caused it?? When I get there in my story is when we all find out the truth.

Hm, that's an interesting theory. There have always been the theory that Seda's lifespan was extended due to what he did and then by what Toan did to save Sophia, perhaps her life was expanded or not and that this connects Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2 since Monica's father, King Raybrant, is seen as nearly identical to Seda style wise and the room looks quite similar to the one seen in Dark Cloud, it seemed like the one that made the most sense (but your theory fits in nicely too). As a whole, the Dark Cloud series (and Rogue Galaxy if one were to count it), feels incomplete in certain areas and both Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2 left many questions unanswered (especially around Toan and Monica's parents, the warring nations from both games, and the exact link between the two as there is an obvious connection since Master Utan is seen in both along with Jurak/Treant and Osmund/Osmond).

Aga, Toan's father, I wish we know what happened to him, he could be the Black Knight Pendragon, but still.... And Monica's mom does look like Sophia, but Kingdom Raybrandt has beard, hmmm... either Seda grew a beard or that is his son. But her mother, so strange, Dark Cloud's timeline is really really confusing.
Aga/Seda/possibly his Son/Sophia the biggest mystery of both games surround the three of them. Also I'm watching you and did you see my Dark Cloud pictures?? And I smell cookies! *goes to eat some cookies*

Agreed, he's called a great hero but a hero of what (even Rogue Galaxy was clear and to the point when it came to the parents of the two protagonists, Kisala and Jaster; there's also a game called Wild ARMs 4 and that had pretty clear giveaways concerning the main hero's dad and what happened to him). As for Monica's mom, while she's never shown in the game per say, I think that it's pretty safe to say that if Monica is related to Seda (if not his daughter), then she is definitely related to Sophia (again, if not her daughter), but like you said, the Dark Cloud timeline can be very confusing. The only thing guarenteed is that Dark Cloud 2 is some time after the first since Utan is aged (even alluding to the events of Dark Cloud) and Monica makes references to Treant by mentioning how Jurak can recall his past lives or something of the nature so some time has definitely passed. Just how much is possibly the million dollar question. I saw some of your work and there's a cute old shoujo feel to your style.
