Description
CataractousI chose to focus on the "decay" portion of this piece but I will touch on adaptation a little bit as I write about this work. This is a cataractous eye. If you're not familiar with cataracts you should probably take a second to look it up. I was kind of thinking about my own previous works in my self-absorbed kind of way and how I can somehow link it to the idea of decay and adaptation through my own thought process. I started think about perception more and more. I recall the phrase "perceiving the world differently" and started thinking about eyes in general. I did what I know best and started making images of eyes, collecting more images of eyes and then I gave my full attention to this idea. Everything is on the eventual decay, nature's unrelenting force to bring things to dust. Going blind. Cataracts. I can't full explain how I reached this end but I guess I hope I can convey to you how I think it relates to the decaying theme. Nature has chosen this person's eye to decay. Not really "chosen" but it's this long-term exposure to ultra-violet light and radiation throughout the years. Could be other causes but I felt these waves of radiation and light are like wind and water is on stone. Eroding away everything it touches. Sadness...Darkness forming over vision.
I used a similar printing method as I have in the past with waxes, inks, dirt, and paint.

That's crazy @.@ The detail in your work is mind boggling...and computer boggling, my compy slows down to the awesomeness of one of your downloaded pieces.

Thanks so much, makes my heart soar when I heard that my work is appreciated!
Yes, the downloads are all print quality 300dpi images, so if you have a high quality banner printed at home or nearby you could have a full piece of artwork on your wall.

Ooh that makes sense!
And yes I always have to stop for 5 + minutes to sit there and look at a picture of yours. Just all the teeny tiny details, then I scratch my head and go "how in the world does he do that?"
