Description
It was a long time in the making but I finally competed another 2 page for my children's picture book, "Who Is Out There?". As my book covers astrobiology on different worlds, this one depicts an ecosystem that could exist in the ocean of an icy moon. With the surface completed covered in ice, the food chain would almost certainly start with bacteria growing from hydrothermal vents. Here I have some of the bacteria growing into structures, creating reefs of some sort. I have tiny, shrimp-like creatures that are direct bacteria feeders while the eel-like and sea slug/penguin looking creatures feed on them. Those two, particularly the sea slug/penguin creature, are preyed upon by the alpha predator that you see on the right. Carcasses are eaten by shelled cephalopod creatures like the one at the bottom right. The fish-like creature with trailing lights is a bacteria feeder that's slow moving but possess poisonous singers to ward away predators.
Feel free to critique. Anything I can improve I'll see if I can adjust.
Really loving using my logo on my art.
