Description
Follow me on Instagram @ivanalifanI was practicing how to paint using a mother colour pallet which was grey and purple that was added to every colour and avoiding using pure colours from the tube. I was trying to imitate this photographic muted light quality that I saw in old Polaroids.

This is so gorgeous. Your work is so incredibly inspiring. I think you can consider this one a definite success. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I saw it in a store.

I think you really succeeded with mixing colours this way. Is the orange you used for the highlights mixed with grey/purple as well?

yep orange alone is too strong on canvas so you must kill it

Fantastic. I love how "painterly" this is. Nothing is more appealing to me than realism done as loosely as possible.

God- that sense of lighting you have is brilliant. Really wish I had something more substantial to say but your paintings really do blow me away. Keep up the good work, mate. It's a kick in the balls for the rest of us!

I thought it was a watercolour at first, only the broad brushstrokes on the right and bottom-left give it away. Excellent job as usual
BTW, I really enjoyed watching your video [link] I hope that you'll make more videos in the future. As a matter of fact, I think that you should film the process for everything you make, even it's just a turkey sandwich. I'm sure that it would be the most inspirational turkey-sandwich-making video out there.

LOL that video my bro was filming so if I had a person Id do it for every painting but at the same time I'm a lazy artist and I can easily take breaks every 5 min.
But I'm actually trying to make my upcoming art work a combination of video and art together. Thats why in the site its still in construction. I'm learning after effects

I take breaks every five minutes too. I don't think it's laziness, I think I have a freaky brain malfunction. When I work, I get too overwhelmed or something, and I just need to get away, even if just to walk around the room for a bit. If that's not bad, a lot of times I get distracted, and I forget to come back from my "break." Could that be reason why I never finish anything? Hmmm...I will ponder that thought for a whi- Oh, look! An orange!
Anyway, back to you, why not use a tripod, station the camera right next to your workspace, and just keep it rolling? You can cut out the breaks later, if you want. Also, if you ask me (which you didn't, I know ) I don't think you need after effects or anything, your work provides enough substance to make an interesting video. Your last video was great, I watched three times in a row, and I'm not a "repeat" type of person.

Maybe we both have attention deficit disorder.
For the video, youll see. My friends never got my idea in the first place until I made a small work and they are pretty impressed. This after effects idea is still in construction. But when I was working on painting and computer video I felt more of an artist rather than a good painter. Btw I'v been itching to buy this new HD pro 2 camera so I could do shots underwater. That would be insane. *drools

Oh I see now, you're interested in film-making for its own sake. Well, that's completely different then. I'll keep an out for your next video!

So will I. That video was fantastically well done. I'm not just talking about the painting, the synchronization to the music, the speeding up in the story telling... totally art.

You can really see the difference the grey and purple makes. Coupled with the orange it looks like soft morning light in the summer. The highlights on the hair and face are especially good. Awesome work!
