i think this is one of my favs although its the first one i saw so maybe im a lil biased but i think its amazing the pose the technique everything. the idea of painting charcoal dust straight onto the paper with a paintbrush is genius! XD sorry i was being nosey and reading your comments but im glad i did!

I like your sketch, but I`d advise you not to `cut` the leg like this, it`s better if you just mark it and leave it unfinished : )

40min? Iām jealous. You have great eyes for catching light. I can only imagine that you work very very light at first and build up, which takes a delicate hand. If you work dark on the first strokes, then you have a very accurate hand. Gah, either way, the end result is gorgeous, but not as in a ravine, but as in something I could eat up until overfull.

your art is amazing and dynamic.
What kind of paper do you use for this?
I love it. Congratulations.

Thank you. My drawings are on a yellow/white tinted paper. Pure white is too much for me. Anything off white is great paper to me. Soft paper so that charcoal rolls nicely.

Impressive amount of detail for a 40 minute sketch!! I'll have to try my hand with charcoal some time soon. I lost my faith in it because I'm a very messy person and would finish with charcoal in everything (including my ears, the floor and my dog)!! But I can see that there are beautiful things to be achieved!

Absolutely fantastic! How did you/do you use charcoal dust?

Maybe I should make a tutorial one day. I use a normal painting brush that in dip in to powder and just paint it on paper. With out using water.

Ooooh, that seems effective, I wonder if the same method could be applied to chalk pastels?
It certainly would make placing color in tight areas easier then blindly going at it with a nubbed edge or awkward angle

You can crush chalk pastels until they are like powder i guess it will work my only fear is that when your pushing around chalk it can get really dirty colours. But even Im interested in trying out. Last time i used chalk pastels they didnt stick that well to my paper.

Getting muddy colors is a fear without crushing them D:. But for small applications In mixed media situations it may play out really well; I'm going to try and see where it takes me

Just thought I'd chime in here, you could try the PanPastel brand. They are soft pastel in the form of cakes that you apply with sponge applicators, very much like painting with a brush.
And spectacular piece!
