Ah.. this can be called a somewhat..promo for my animation video I am working on right now. Anyway, I've had in mind to raw HRE's death scene for a loong while eAe...To be honest, I have no idea in what season Holy Roman Empire broke up. So I decided to draw winter..and yes, he is dying alone. Don't ask where did a grieving angel statue come from..in the middle of the forest. Aaanyway.

Alright, since I'm cheap I don't pay for the premiem membership on DA, I don't get to send critic, so I'll just post a paragraph here instead bwa!
In overall, I think you did great. My reasons to think so is that you were able create a background environment that was not too detailed and well made. We can also clearly see the character is in the middle of a forest and there is no life in the surrounding save for HRE. The only comfort he can get in his last moment is the presence of an holy statue which by his pose seem to bless his poor soul. I am actually am fund of nostalgic scenery taking place in winter, because the scenery being more blend there is a sharp contrast with the rest of the scenery and the main subject of the picture. You can also feel the isolation of the protagonist left to reminisce his death in a cold and empty atmosphere which make it even more depressing. Perhaps there are some suggestion I can give you. It might give more impact if you add below the character his footsteps with a trail of blood that will end to the pedestal of the statue. This might make more emphasis on the current situation the character is facing and his deathly injury since from my understanding from the fandom he got slayed by Francis ( Correct me if I'm wrong please). Also, perhaps adding more shadow or details to the wings might be goods, since they don't stand out as much as the rest of the body of the statue and they are half the size of the statue. Regarding the statue location, there has been some report of statue being found in forests. So there's no need to fret over that detail and beside this is a fanart, I'd be surprise if someone got upset with this. If someone is well damn, send him on a quest in Lourdes to find the Sacred Heart statue in the forest. Finally, I hope this critic was helpful to you and that you will complete the video you've been working because this is a beautiful project full of creativity.

Wah okay, thank you very much! blood would've been good to add.. Why didn't I think of it T^T Oh and about the angel wings, thing is, we have a similar statue here at our cemetary, and it doesnt have so many details on the wings either, just a few feathers. If this was any other picture I'd spend a lot more time on the wings and have every feather drawn out, but I didnt in this one because the statue would draw too much attention from HRe to it.. So I did consider it, but had to cut down on details ;3;

Shit, when I saw this I was like "aaaaaaaw, little bubby!" and not a lot of stuff makes me say that.
About the angel statue; To be honest, it doesn't really look like it's in the middle of the forest. It kind of reminds me of a cemetery around where I live, which is in the middle of the forest, actually, so there are random graves like this everywhere between the trees, but this looks like it could be right outside of a cemetery in a grove of trees. Or something. I don't even know if the term "grove of trees" makes sense.

Okay, first some ramblings that could help:
Hmmm, I think the exact date would be August 6. 1806 when Franz II gave up his crown but one could argue it started even earlier when the Rhine Confederation was formed (July 12. in 1806) since this reduced the HRE to practically nothing D:
Then again, this was a slow process in which more and more (grand) duchys and Kingdoms joined the Rhine confederation (the last being the Herzogtum Oldenburg on October 14. in 1808 I think, which could mark his death?) which I could see as HRE losing more and more of his lifepower (he basically withered over 2 years to death D8). And snow in the middle of october isn't that unusual here. a friend of mine who lives in a village that is located rather high and they did have snow every now and then (but on the other side, you can't compare today's weather with the weather back then Dx).
But yeah, I think you can interpret the whole dying nation thing differently. If I remember correctly, it was France who told Chibitalia about HRE's death which would and considering that the last duchy that joined HRE was annexed by France on December 13. in 1810, this would work well I think.
Fffff, sorry about that @A@ it's just that I think the whole Death of HRE is quite an interesting but complicated topic so I tried to think of way in which it could have taken place xD

I'm kind of scared of Angel Statues a little (I blame a certain Doctor Who episode >_>) which means that the shading is great.
I like how this death scene looks so... peaceful. The composition is also very nicely done β₯β₯β₯
As said, I envy your ability to draw backgrounds Dx I wish I had the patience.
All in all, it's an awesome pic and I'm looking forward to you animation video (:

about the grieving angel statue in the middle of a forest, its like the random lightpost in the Chronicles of Narnia!
the snow looks wonderful, especially on his cloak and on the statue. and how the background kind of fades out like that? great job on that
I want to point out the angel's eyes, though. it looks to me like human eyes on a statue. in most statues, at least the ones I see, unpainted statues don't have pupils and irises. its just a circle in the middle of the eye, you know? it looks a bit strange, I'll admit.
and I couldn't quite tell who the character was. I mean, until I thought for a while (and read the artist comments). you might want to consider adding in his hat next to him since that's one of his defining traits, or the deck broom Chibitalia gave him. that one would be sad.

Ah, I thought that recognizing him would be a problem, so I wanted to add his hat in there, maybe fallen off or somethng, but it didn't fit in and looked weird..and about the deck broom.. ..what deck broom? o_o He never gave him that or.. did I miss something? I remember reading about chibitalia giving his..panties >_< but never a broom D: Can you tell me what chapter that is?

also, you're right about the panties in the manga, but in the anime, Chibitalia gives him a deck broom. which isnt as funny. but it wouldn't be as tragic if he was holding panties. he could have a painting of a bunny, because in the manga and the anime, Chibitalia and him paint bunnies together. idk, just a suggestion.
