That really painful moment when you are in love with your best friend for a few years and tell yourself you're all good but actually don't believe you''ll ever have much chances with them, but then they give you a green light and you start a reletionship, and you are just in heaven, wanting to spend every second of your time with them and shower them with your love, because what else you could do, seriously, that's what you've been dreaming about, and they just don't like you as much as you like them and start getting uncomfortable with all of your attention and in the end your tenderness and your affections just start to be annoying to them and they don't want to talk to you about what happened because they don't know what to say and how to explain it to you, you keep being persistent and then they never want to see you again.
I've been exactly there in Dirk's position where I just wouldn't notice that anything's at all wrong just because I felt like I was the happiest person alive being together with the person I love.
Jake should really discuss it with him. He should have done that ever since he felt that something started going wrong. Jake please, don't ruin it further for yourself and don't break his heart

ugh...yeah, been in that same boat with a guy who thought we were like Dirk and Jake (before the fallout). Welp. I think they both have issues as they both grew up sheltered and along. Dirk to an even lesser extent. Especially considering his only physical company was a puppet that he forcibly had to part ways with. I hate to compare Dirk's attachment to Jake like the attachment he had for Cal, but it could be a factor.
I'm sure the both would eventually learn eachother's boundaries in time.
