Nice colour! I'm completely self taught in photo shop, so I tend to botch up what I know. The shading and lighting effect is really nice. The mask tool is complicated - I'm only just getting used to it. I use it for texture mainly, or a bit for shading.
The only thing is how harsh the lighting is. If I were you I would have copied your main layer, done the lighting on that, then adjusted the opacity of the top layer. Just an idea, but I do like how dramatic the lighting looks.
Did you do this using burn/dodge?

Oh god, I appreciate you liking the coloring. I myself can't stand it MUCH, but it was an effort and it did take tons of time. I definitely didn't do what you suggested and I probably should try it next time. If there is a next time, I will seek this comment out and give it a whirl!
And I did not use the burn/dodge. I used....lots and lots of contrast/brightness manipulation. Although it was a while ago. Lord knows I still don't know what a burn/dodge tool is. Maybe I did!
Crap.
I can't say.

Lol I know how you feel! There are some great tutorial's online (check out my favs for some of them). Just search around for what you need to know. Am looking forward to seeing more colour in future *hint hint*
Fair enough, Burn/dodge tool = Burn: Darkens, Dodge: Lightens
*hugs* You'll get used to it, but your sketches are awesome enough on their own.

Which is why I just do them. XD Lolz color.
I appreciate the encouragement, although its unlikely I'll do it soon. If anything it'll be fleeting or a cartoon.... NOT SURE.
And ohhhhh. Thanks, man!

I think it was....it must've been. Wait, did you want to color some of mine or did you want me to color some of yours? Because I've only discussed with people who wanted to color mine. I can't commit to coloring others right now.

Awwwwwwww!
Bittersweetness galore!
!
That part, especially in the book, was so...GRAH. I mean, things are great: Glinda's wonderful and thinking, Elphaba's finally softened (very slightly, admittedly), and then...BAM. Elphaba leaves Glinda and things go to hell in a handbasket.

I know....what would've happened if she would've stayed in the book? I think she would've been a really grumpy girl the rest of her life, but at least she wouldn't have been crazy. At one point in the book, I just was like, "Oh god, just let Elphaba DIE."

If she'd stayed... Well, maybe she would've left eventually anyway, but things would've been different, that's for sure. Interesting idea. Hm...
Yeah, towards the end she was getting insufferable. I mean, first she's all emo and like "...I hate the world" which is annoying enough, but then she has to go and obsess over the damn shoes and become crazy... Oy.

That's really sweet. lol Thanks! I'm really not all that. I also took a Photoshop class for a semester in High School, but you know, if you just play around and get a good tutorial online to help you through the basics, you'll figure it out. Mostly, it's just exploring the damn thing. I never want to do it, but if you draw something and then force yourself to color it, it'll get better.
What are you having issues with?

everything. I try to use the color fill in tool or whatever it's called and sometimes it just goes everywhere. I suck lol and I can't draw with a mouse

Oh hell, I can't draw with a mouse either. I draw on paper and scan it in, clean it up with an eraser tool, and then go from there. I'd advise starting with that.
You use the polygonal lasso tool to color things in. At least at first. I hear there is also a mask tool, but I still have yet to understand it. Basically, the lasso tool, which is at the very top corner of the tools bar to your left in Photoshop. You'll probably see "lasso tool". Just left click it and the other options will show up. Create a new layer (because you dont' want to color on the background in case you want to discard the colors later), and just start tracing around the area you want to work in. If you wanted to do skin, you trace the skin. Then pick your skin color, get the bucket tool and fill it in.
REMEMBER. If you want a background, make it the very bottom layer, and build the skin tones, hair...everything above it. Then the actual sketch/drawing is at the very top. You'll notice if you left click the sketch in the layer palette to the right, it'll say "blending options". Click that and make it "multiply". That'll allow your drawing to be seen through the color no matter what. Everything else is set to "normal".
