Eurkilo, Oria's father --- meeting his dear granddaughter for the very first time.

He's lost everyone he's ever loved, and at the beginning --- refuses to find fault in his own actions. But soon, at the end, does everything unearth. He feels responsible for the pain he caused his daughter, but by the time he realizes it, it's too late and he's forced to put her tyranny to an end. He couldn't fix the damage he's done, but he could save the one thing Oria loved; her daughter.

They start off fairly rocky, and uncomfortable. Cynder's lived with primates all her life, with one singular dragoness around as her mother, and her grandfather is everything her mother described him as. He's intimidating, he's cold, he's demanding of her, he constantly tells her to stop hollering like an ape, he's always---he's----crying?....

Eurkilo knows Cynder doesn't want to be with him, and he knows it's because of him. He doesn't know how to be kind to her, he's angry and bitter over his daughter, he's scared that if he gets too close, he'll just hurt Cynder somehow by pushing his ideals onto her like he has on everyone all his life. He just knows she needs a home, she needs a family, and he wants to be there for her, but he has to throw out his toxic ideals if he wants that to happen.

He desperately tries to bury these old habits and give a selfless love to his granddaughter, she deserved it more then anything. He owed that to her at least. She's lived a hard life under Oria and King Gaul's care (despite she insists the two loved her very much, and she loved them aswell, but Eurkilo isn't certain if it's 'real' love, but he doesn't know what it was like for Cynder under their care, he thinks it's all bs and they were demented nutcases)

But it's hard breaking away his old ideals and habits, his obsession with prestige, his obsession with purity, his obsession with everything being perfect ---- but it's worth it all to give her a happy life, even if he must learn to change to make his granddaughter happy. He wanted Cynder simply to be happy as she could be, he gives her his wealth and estate, she becomes his only heir to all he owns, and she still chooses to become part of the guard in Warfang. He supports her nonetheless, and he's the first one to cheer at her ceremony when she's officially a captain of the guard. When she finds love with local writer Ember, he shoves down his pride and welcomes her to the family within a second.

At the end of it all, he's found every reason to change with his granddaughter. She's nothing like him, she's prideful, bossy, and determined, she speaks her mind and follows her own ways no matter what anyone thinks, no matter what he thinks. And he's happy for her for it, he's happy she's in control of her own life and mind, that she's free to be who she is.

And he's determined to spend every reason following her ways and changing into a better person for her, to be the best grandpa she could ever have, and support her in every way.

Incase some of you are new, Eurkilo's the remake of Oria's father, and his design is now similar to hers. I absolutely love how he came out tbh. :>
