Description Thought I'd try my hand at adoptables for once!! sweats

Nebular wyrms are a mysterious, newly discovered species found drifting through the vast expanses of the cosmos. They are rare but sizable creatures, adapted to thrive in spite of steep temperature changes, lack of atmosphere, and intense radiation. Their mannerisms and biology are poorly understood by space explorers, but they appear to drift alone or in small "pods" and communicate via electromagnetic impulses, which sound similar to a high-pitched whalesong when made audible.

Nebular wyrms use the electromagnetic "conductors" on their heads to feed on high-energy cosmic gases and dust, often gathered from star systems, nebulae, and other phenomena. The conductors trap and compress this energy over time into a small, dense sphere of plasma called a "microstar". They absorb the energy emitted by this microstar to feed. They may also cause the microstar to violently explode in a condensed area, creating very small and temporary wormholes to teleport considerable distances through space. Young wyrms stay closer to their place of origin and seldom teleport, but move more quickly to make up for it (the stellar stage), while adults may travel some distances within a formation (nebular stage). Elder adults (galactic stage) can traverse a single galaxy freely, while the extremely rare and massive ancient wyrms can even be found within deep space (rogue stage).

The energy emitted by the wyrms' conductors is enough to damage or destroy most machinery's systems, so they have only been studied from considerably far away. Nebular wyrms live for unknown lengths of time, but will die when brought into a pressurized, gravity-based, or atmospheric environment.

Nebular wyrms are a closed species.
All location images were taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, with credits to NASA, ESA, HEIC, and The Hubble Heritage Team (STScI/AURA).
By purchasing, you will gain the rights to this individual design, along with a full-size transparent PNG and original PSD file. I'll be making a species page eventually for all this info! ;>

"Cat's Eye"
$25, owned by:

Location of discovery: Cat's Eye Nebula [NGC 6543] - imgsrc.hubblesite.org/hu/db/im…
Length 30.5ft/9.3m, diameter 1.7ft/0.5m
Nebular, common
This specimen was found drifting alone along the outer edges of the nebula, riding the nebula's searing waves of heated gases. It appears to consume energy from these waves.

"Dustcloud"
$25, owned by:

Location of discovery: NGC 281 - imgsrc.hubblesite.org/hu/db/im…
Length 44.8ft/13.6m, diameter 2.2ft/0.7m
Nebular, common
A robust young adult found drifting among clouds of cosmic dust within this star-forming region. Its natural camouflage, with the exception of its beacon-like microstar, made it nearly impossible to spot amidst the dark clouds.

"Supernova"
$25, owned by:

Location of discovery: N 63A - imgsrc.hubblesite.org/hu/db/im…
Length 40.2ft/12.3m, diameter 2ft/0.6m
Nebular, common
This brightly-colored individual approaced at close range, its intentions unknown. It may have been protecting a territorial region, or perhaps was driven by curiosity. Regardless, its particularly high-energy microstar caused extensive damage to our systems.

Ooh, these are cool!  Do you think you'll do more?

Ah, thank you so much! I plan on doing more eventually, but I might want to tweak their designs a bit first! I really love space so I'd definitely want to keep going with the species idea.
