Dan vs is a pretty random show to check out, but I did it out of complete curiosity, as I had no idea what to expect from it. The entire show based on the single idea of an angry man getting a stroke over average life matters to the point where he could commit the global war over them, which went through consistently in every episode over 3 seasons. As unclear as it may sound, this show ended up being a pleasant surprise to watch despite having not much of an expectation formerly. I really like Dan, he is a very good example of an anti-hero that is actually funny with his overly angry behavior. What makes him more interesting later on is the noticeable progression that he had thought out of the show. In S1 (or at least at the earlier half of it) Dan’s character never went further than an endless rage that was the single usage of his resolutions. This is funny and all, but as far as the show went, Dan got way more restraint with his personality by using a lot of clever scams and techniques toward his target with complete calmness, by also not losing his craziness and hate towards Lemonade Stand’s Kids. He also has best friend Chris, who always comes across as Dan’s extra hand for revenge. At the first episodes, the friendship between those 2 was very questionable, but as far as the show went a lot of episodes showed a lot of valid reasons why Chris still considered Dan a friend with all his freakouts. A Special point to this goes to the show's finale episode, where we got a full thought backstory of their origin. But to not turn Dan and Chris’s shenanigans into complete cheating, the show also added Elise into the party who always tried to restrain the actions of both. Not to say that it ruined any madness that the show pulled into, not at all, but Elise was a good addiction to add into the conflicts the extra rules, as well as providing a lot of good comedy though rivalry of Dan and some of her own sub-plots at the secret agency. The chemistry between those 3 characters polished in this show greatly. By that, a lot of the plots also went through a lot of fun. What I appreciate about show a lot is that it’s knows how to mix up the scenarios where it’s either Dan’s own exaggerated fault, or it is the legitimate problem for everyone else, where Dan only wants to get rid of by getting disturbed himself. Despite having pretty much the single formula for episodes, a lot of them ended up feeling fresh because you don’t know what to expect from the plot as far as it went. As the progression that lead characters always as unpredictable as it can get. It can provide Dan with a warm win, can give him a giant slap in the face, there can be no winner at all, and all of this just gets going and going. And the themes for those scenarios are just as funny. From Magicians and Devil who owns Chris’ company, to George Washington and Impostor that can’t leave Dan alone by masking like him and doing nice things for the society behind his back. So much of those episodes fit amazingly with Dan’s, while entirely messed up, but motivational and justifiable persona nonetheless, turning 22 minute slot into a great experience.

If we need to come into the show's weak sides, then there’s going to be a bit to be said as well. With 52 half hours it’s really expected to show having a dud here and there, and while there’s not much of episodes that went entirely into the negative side of the scale, a few episodes can get way less creative with the overall premises, making them to be pretty generic and lacking jokes by comparison to other episodes. A few episodes like Mummy and Golf are just one of the examples that could come into this statement rightfully. A lot of the weakest episodes also has a fairly big issue with pacing, as they doesn’t have much going for with 22 minute formant on their hands(this is also the reason why I wasn’t been that invested into the show after watching first 2 episodes, as they really have this problem to the max). Especially noticeable that a lot of the worst episodes of the show came from ones that focus on Elise’s parents, as all of them came across as undeveloped arc that didn’t bring much from it. This is sad, as they did have an interesting idea of them sharing the same secret life as Elise does. Wedding was especially a big let-down, as this is the unneeded continuation to a previous episode, that pretty much ruined the entire joke of Dan not going to see his girlfriend ever again because he’s too lazy to make a few steps up on the streets. With that behind, leave the actual episode turning into a cliched wedding breaking plot that doesn’t even have typical Dan vs’ sense of humor to it. Really sad to see a dud like this in the show where otherwise there’s not that much to dislike. Oh, and the animation of the show is noticeably poor. But as all of the show's stories and humor get through characters’ interactions only, this doesn’t hurt the enjoyment of the episodes overall.

For a show that came into my head this random, I had a lot of fun watching it. From the ridiculous scenarios that turn themselves into creative and original executions , to great character’s chemistry that I could see being easily screwed up at first by the bitter personality of the protagonist, that at the end of the day was very fun to follow up. If you have no idea what you want to watch during a boring day, Dan vs is a really recommendable show to you, as it’s really come across as something as a surprising stand out.
