“Okay, Jake, I’ll see you in a few hours,” I said as I was leaving Jake’s house.

“Wait, _____, where are you going?” He asked quickly.

“On a date,” I sighed.

I didn’t want to go on this date at all. Roxy basically forced me to go because she thought my interests in Jake were strange. Strange, really? Just because I like someone that isn’t like the type of guy she would date, I’m strange.

“With who?” Jake interrogated, now blocking my way from leaving the house.

“I don’t know. Roxy set me up with him. Now, can you please move so she won’t yell at me for being late?”

I moved past him and quickly out the door. He continued to ask questions as I left his house. He was worried. I would be too if my friend went out on a date with a person they didn’t even know. I headed home to get ready for my date with this mystery man. Fun…

~Timeskip~

I was walking along the streets in town with my date, Dirk. We are friends and have been since before this “date” even happened. Apparently, Roxy thought that the two of us would make a great couple.

“So, how do you think this ‘date’ even went?” Dirk asked.

“Well, it was nice, but in all honesty I don’t want a second one. Hanging out with you is nice, but I don’t want to date you,” I admitted to him.

“Thank God! I feel the same way. You know, maybe another day we should hang out and play video games like old times,” Dirk suggested, I nodded in agreement.

“I completely agree!” I smiled brightly at him.

We were laughing and enjoying our time together as friends when someone grabbed my arm and spun me around. My eyes were wide as I stared at who the person was.

“Jake! What are you doing here?” I questioned completely shocked.

“I wanted to- no I needed to talk to you, _____,” Jake answered out of breath.

“Hey, Jake, are you okay?” Dirk asked his friend.

“Dirk! What are you doing here?” Jake yelled.

“Roxy set me up with _____ on a date,” he responded calmly.

“What!” Jake exclaimed causing everyone to look at the three of us.

I just stood there awkwardly as Jake grabbed Dirk by both his arms and started yelling again. I had no idea what had gotten into Jake. I was also hoping people would just stop gawking at us. This couldn’t have been the first time someone caused a scene.

“Dude, how could you? You know I’ve liked _____ for years now!” Jake yelled at Dirk who just smirked.

Mine and Jake’s eyes grew wide at what he just admitted. Jake let go of Dirk and turned to look at me and my reaction. I blushed a dark red as his eyes pierced through me. Dirk lifted his hand and clasped Jake’s shoulder. That caused Jake to shake his head and turn to face Dirk.

“Now, make it a proper confession and ask her out,” Dirk said and left us there.

“Um, _____, I uh,” He muttered.

I just turned to look at the ground. I didn’t know what he was going to say, but it didn’t matter because I was very nervous. My long time crush likes me back. Now, I just hoped he didn’t run away.

He seemed to notice my head being down. In a swift movement, he tilted my head up and kissed me on the lips. My eyes widened and closed to enjoy it. It was heaven, but it didn’t last long.

Jake had a slight blush on his cheeks as he looked me in the eyes.

“_____, I like you a lot. Would you be my girlfriend and go out on a date with me?” He confessed.

“Yes, I would love to,” I smiled and kissed him again.

He stood there watching as the scene played out before him. He just smiled and laughed.

“Damn, I’m glad he didn’t use that one line when he was drunk. ‘My love for you is as big as my junk’. He should’ve said that. She would’ve laughed,” He said to himself and walked away.
